Huh? We’re already at character selection? That’s right. You don’t make any rooms. WTF is he going on about? From the Friends List Dojo Update

This guy is definitely probing our minds. I wonder if he heard my pleas and improved the game's AI...

It's a cool update, but I don't feel like repeating what everyone else has already said.

I LOVE the protection against Disconnects. It's like.. the biggest complaint I had about DS Wi-Fi for Mario Kart and Pokemon Those two select screens, I should add, are from the E For All Demo. He's just covering his heiney ;p

^Yeah - the real screens will no doubt be stealth edited in once they are properly revealed.

Out of curiousity (and biding my time before my 10:30am class), I decided to compare the Melee demo's screen with the final screen to (minus Toad) At the time, the Melee demo only had 10 of the 14 known characters selectable on the screen (it was missing Zelda/Sheik, Peach, Kirby, Ice Climbers). Now the Brawl demo has 14 playable characters out of the 22 selectable. For fun, I tried messing with the boxes in MSPaint. Filling only the last row brings that to 18. So the boxes must shrink to fit the last four characters we know about or something. So I shrank the boxes roughly 33% so they were still visible and whatnot, and this is what I got: h1.ripway.com/FlipTroopa/brawlselect.bmp(sorry that it's a bitmap; it was hastily done) 27 spots. Now, my choice of percent was arbitrary. And, regardless, I could've fit more. But I guess my point is that there is clearly going to be some major change with the select screen between the demo and the final build. Not only for unlockables, but just to fit the remaining known characters as we know them. Afterall, if we're all expecting 30+ fighters... ;p EDIT: Did the same thing with the Stage Select: 32 stages if you cram them all in there. There's 18 revealed on the site so far, including Temple. So that leaves 13 more stages to be revealed, following this crazy layout. But, considering Melee had 29, I can see this happening moreso than my character select edit. EDIT 2: I should mention that I was able to recreate the FINAL Melee screen using he Demo. There's the question of those two blanks that you can fill and ultimately were NOT filled, but it works very well. So I think we can count on this Brawl demo screen being a bit similar, if not the base, for the final game.

As an unrelated side note, I find it interesting that the Melee demo character screen (which I hadn't seen before) only had 1 new character out of 10, whereas Brawl has 5 out of 14. Don't know what you could conspire this to mean, but eh.

Ah, a nice chunk of juicy info at last! This is a very nice update, it answers alot of questions that needed answering...as well as brought up a few more questions.
- Yeah, no way that's the final starting screen. I see no reason why Sakurai would make characters like Kirby, Ice Climbers or Zelda unlockable...it's just silly (especially considering two of those characters are in the beginning of Adventure Mode).
- I also expect there to be more stages to start with. Melee had many more starting stages than that...
- God I LOVE you Sakurai! That's genius! I was worried about what he'd do with the disconnection dilemma...I just hope the AI of computers has improved.
- And finally, information about unlockables! I'm pretty happy with this news; it means that at least most of the secret characters will be involved in Adventure Mode, making it even more epic. I'm not gonna be doing online matches until I unlock all characters and stages...

I do enjoy Wi-Fi, so I might Wi-Fi with Friends Only when I first get the game. Once I unlock stuff and I need to start killing time in-game, I'll play random folks.

I'll definately be playing online.
Let's face it... the only way to get GOOD as Smash, is to play other people. Humans. You can practice on the CPU, but in all seriousness, that will only make you better at beating the computer. Now playing online means TOUGH competition... but that's only because that's the nature of online games. People who aren't very good, don't play... because it's usually a harsh environment. Not knowing the "rules" set up by the community, being made fun of for not being good enough, getting ganged up on.... it sucks. But here... in brawl there is ZERO pressure. ANYBODY can be playing not just the pros... the Fox's, the Shiek's, the Falco's and Marths. I really look forward to playing a game online with NO pressure.

I agree, because then you don't have to worry about your name being plastered all over Smashboards or some fansite. "Oh, FlipTroopa SUCKS. The boy camps Yoshi and a mean air game, but he can't dodge worth crap and his dashdance is awful. I mean, diu in the fqi if y'know slip-canceling, am I right? lulz. noob can't even google-flop" *cringes* It'll still be embarassing at least for me to lose, though. I hated playing Mario Kart and getting snaked to pieces. Regardless of who it was.

I am now torn between expecting anyone who has been announced to be unlocked from start, and anyone who hasn't being locked - alongside my suspicion that maybe a crapton of characters are going to be locked, but are easily unlocked in Adventure Mode... including ones we had from the start in Brawl. Either way, I don't mind. I like unlocking characters, even if it's pointless

I think we really know nothing.
