I can't recall if there's been a topic like this already, but I don't recall a detailed discussion on the topic of Subspace Emissaries' bosses. At the moment we know of two (with the Ancient Minister possibly providing a third): Petey Piranha - Kirby fights him in the stadium in order to free either Peach or Zelda Rayquaza - Fox and Diddy Kong team up to fight this legendary Pokémon
The key thing with the bosses is that they have a Master-Hand-style health bar that has to be depleted. It is possible other (playable) villains (Bowser, Wario, King Dedede) and "Dark" versions of characters (Dark Link, Dark Samus, etc.) may also show up, but I'm interested in these larger boss characters.
I am firmly of the opinion that Ridley will not be playable (unless all boss characters are playable - not likely!), and will show up as a boss character. In the games, he flies, stabs with his tail, and breathes fire. Not exactly a hefty moveset for a potential playable character, but ideal for a massive boss battle (also, we know the Ridley battle music from Super Metroid has been remixed and put in the game.)
Thinking of other potential boss battles is tricky, as there's so many possibilities.
I'd love to see a proper Earthbound boss battle (with psychedelic background), as they had some crazy and hilarious enemies. Whether it's Pokey, Giegue/Giygas or any of the other bosses from throughout the series? I'm not too picky ;D
How about a large Kirby villain? We already know that King Dedede and Meta-Knight are playable, but Sakurai wants to promote his characters. A battle with Nightmare would be great fun, and I imagine he would look excellent all 3D rendered up! And THAT battle music would be frickin' sweet!
I'm not entirely sure we'll see King K. Rool, although I'd very much like to. He'd also be a fair contender for playable status, as he's probably about the same proportions as Bowser, and has a hilarious armoury from the games he's appeared in. I'm not 100% sure he will be in, and not too bothered - but it would be a nice addition.
So, who else would you like to see take up the mantle of Giant Boss Villain in SSE?

In regards to a Kirby boss character, the only ones that immediately come to me are DynaBlade and O2. Of those two, I think DynaBlade is the more likely one to appear (not to mention my most wanted). As for other bosses, I would be thinking Kraid as being the Metroid boss instead of Ridley (mostly due my disappointment that he wasn't in MP3:Corruption and my opinion that Ridley is overused as a boss), have Dogadon from DK64 as DK's boss (therefore not needing Ridley).

Raphael Raven, complete with his rotating spherical stage, should be one (If theres already going to be a sphrecial Galaxy stage or something they could just reuse that I guess). Totally needs to be defeated the same way as in YI, though.
Also, since we're getting tons of Twilight Princess content, I wouldn't mind seeing Zant make a return, if for no other reason then I liked that dude. And I suppose he could function like he did in TP (keeping it vague so its spoiler-free), since a lot of games seem to have one of those bosses now.
And of course Robotnik (Eggman? Pffft). And it totally needs to be Bowser that fights him.

If the Fire Emblem series gets a boss of their own, it would be one of the enemy dragons (perhaps Medeus from Fire Emblem 1).
If the Pikmin series gets a boss of their own, it would probably be either Beady Long-legs, Burrowing Snarget or The Emperor Bulblax.
If Solid Snake gets a boss, then it would most likely be one of the Metal Gears.
If Ridley became playable, then Kraid, Mother Brain, Omega Metroid, Queen Metroid, Metroid Prime or any of the other major bosses of the Metroid series will become a SSE boss.
Pit would either have Medusa from the NES version (most likely) or any one of the bosses (most likely Orcos) from the Game Boy sequel (less likely).
The Ice Climbers don't have a boss in their game, but they might get one from any of Nintendo's NES titles.
If Takamaru became playable, then he would probably have Murasame, the final boss of Nazo no Murasame-jo.
And if DeMille became playable, then he would either have one of the six Superkids (Tomato Adventure's major bosses) or King Abira.

It's worth remembering that the bosses aren't necessarily fought by characters from their games. So even if, say, Takamaru doesn't get in, then Murasame might still be a boss. Dyna Blade would definitely be awesome, as would Zant! I love that crazy guy. And judging by the Mother 3 content so far, I expect that Sakurai's not ALL that bothered about spoiling games over a year old

for Pikmin bosses, I'd like to see the Titan Dweevil. his attacks would be great in a Smash context, and on top of that he's a huge jerk.
but more importantly, BOWLETTA!

I did make a topic about this ages ago that kind of fell by the wayside eventually - I have no objections to a new Boss Thread getting made, and besides, my opinions have changed somewhat since the original.
Anyway - what I was thinking of were the following bosses:
Kracko: The dude has been in most Kirby games ever made and he's pretty much a staple to the series. Seeing as Sakurai's the one helming Brawl, you would almost sort of expect this, you know? Especially as we have electrically charged cloud minions in the Subspace Army.
Pigma Dengar: I'm fairly certain this porker is going to be a Star Fox-related villain. He's not only proved that he can survive near-death experiences, but that his shape is adaptive due to the Aparoid infection, which I imagine would make for an interesting boss fight in Brawl. And if not Pigma, then I'd certainly like to see...
Andross:, because the homie has proved he can haunt Fox from beyond the Grave as well. Then again - someone said something similar yesterday - Smash is a continuity nightmare, so even a fully living Andross could exist. I'd like to see him take the place of Master Hand and Crazy Hand, really.
Doshin/Jashin the Giant: I feel as if there ought to be bosses that are heroic or neutral in nature; this way characters like Bowser or Wario or Dedede can still have these boss fights without throwing their goals into conflict. Not to mention we're not even sure if Rayquaza is aligned with the Subspace Army so much as it's surly about something and decides to attack Fox and Diddy, you know? In this case, Doshin and Jashin would make fantastic neutral bosses that obstruct whomever tries to conflict with them. (Also - obviously - I don't feel an overwhelming urge to use bosses strictly from franchises that have playable characters.)
Gohma: A Twilight Princess version of Gohma would be wicked. This monster is Zelda's version of Kracko; it's pretty much a staple to the series, so it kinda makes sense that it'd appear in Brawl. I imagine this one would stick to the ceiling and attack you from there until you managed to knock it down.
Pokey: I would personally prefer the End-of-Earthbound Pokey to any other varieties of the dude; that spider-mech of his looked incredibly vicious.
Medusa: I don't know how big or unplayable Medusa will turn out to be like...in all honesty, she may be the only other playable character Kid Icarus could have, for all I'm aware. But what the hell. I'll throw her on here, because Kid Icarus needs love too.
Dr. Eggman: If he's not playable - and I don't expect he will be - Eggman needs to rampage in a few different mechs, I think. I say "a few different" because I'd like him to be a persistent boss, reminiscent of the old Sonic the Hedgehog games. He appears in a few different forms and storylines this way and gets a lot of love.
I would also like to see a few unplayable minions in the game as well, along the lines of the Goombas/Redeads/Topis and etc. from Melee (and we've seen a few in DK's section in SSE). As most of the games SSE is about features minion-type enemies, including them shouldn't be that far-fetched. But one thing I would like to see in particular is a bevy of Sonic the Hedgehog through Sonic 3 & Knuckles minions, because everything to follow after that is kind of crap. Especially the Egg Pawns; I really don't like those guys.

Especially as we have electrically charged cloud minions in the Subspace Army. Yeah, I'm also expecting that cyclops to show up. I'm also expecting him to be one of the more annoying bosses for some reason, especially on very hard, flying around, smacking into you, shooting rapid rain.. I'm hoping for that Marx guy to show up rather then Nightmare, mainly because he's got these flashy moves, but Marx only showed up in Superstar so I'm not really counting on him. But yeah, if there's a Nightmare boss atleast we'll have that rad music of his. Did someone mention Mother Brain yet? She could work. All party members should be able to do long-range attacks to get that Metroid vibe. I can already imagine Snake firing his Nikita at Mother Brain's cornea. Well other then that the posts above me mention enough rad boss possibilities. Any huge boss is neat, looking forward to them epic battles.

Why Redd, Lyle or Kapp'n actually. Lyle would be my first choice.
A secret starfox Slot Machine would be a cool fight for Wario.
Giant Pictochat Face would make an interesting fight.
Floating Dark Mii Head. Just because.

I think Liquid Snake would be the boss, or Solidius Snake...or Big Boss... REX and RAY aren't the only Metal Gears in the Metal Gear series. There is also the TX-55, the Gustav (G) and the D. I believe bosses have to be large characters. Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake and Big Boss won't be good enough, unless if they are controlling a combat vehicle.

I think Metal Gear style bosses like Psycho Mantis would work extremely well.
