Update #207: Manaphy

It’s Manaphy! This Pokémon also appeared in a movie.

This Manaphy is quite different from the other Pokémon that appear in this game. So much so that you’ll think, is this even possible?! Or words to that effect.

You have to fight as your opponent for a while! They say it’s good to know your enemy.

But you haven’t really swapped places, so if you jump off the edge, it counts as a self-destruct for you. And your damage meter remains as it was.


After a certain amount of time, you go back to normal.
Phew. Good.

Things always seem to end well in this game, don’t they?

Any idea what attack that is? Is there a pokemon attack called Heart Swap?

I wonder how long it takes Manaphy to do the swap.
As soon as I see it, I'm doing my third jump off the edge. If he swaps before I die... my opponent will lose a life!

There is indeed an attack called Heart Swap. It swaps the stats of the two battlers.

$10 says Phione is in, and appears to do this, but in reality does nothing... turning the strategy Rygar suggested into a suicide move.

The attack is a Manaphy-exclusive one from Diamond and Pearl, but it's effect is from the 9th movie.

So explain why you think this frankly bizarre and awesome Poke Ball update is the worst update so far. Even worse than "Smoke Ball" or "How to Play" or any of the ones that drove us all mad in November last year.

Well, got an idea..... What if I time it correctly, throw myself off the ledge, and just about when I'm to be KO'ed I switch as someone else?

At first I saw it was a poké ball update and I was upset because I thought it'd be a pretty lame update, but then I saw what it did and thought, "Best. Poké Ball. Update. Ever."

Are you someone who refuses to play as a different character? Or are you worried people will figure out the suicide strategy? Things like this are why I love Smash Bros.
