I think people threw around a few good ideas about what should/would be in the game, but in the end who knows how Sakurai's mind works? He is insane I didnt really predict anything because of this. I really like how adamant you were that an AC character would get in! Oh and there is no image in the Real Box Art link.

Oh and there is no image in the Real Box Art link. It was the box art that there is now. I still don't like it, but, whatever

Cool idea. Possible notable threads I found: What else you want in SSBLots of good stuff in this one, just not for me. 'cept this Neither should stay the same. If you want Falco in, and can't make him original, make him an alt. costume for Fox or something. They should be able to at least Luigify him though - even say, dual wielding blasters would be a start. The SSB Boss ThreadWe all thought there would be soooooo many. Then we started yapping on about other crap (including Pauline. lol wut?). I called Bowser Jr as playable, because 'there wasn't going to be less Mario characters than Melee'. Bum-bow. Talking about the Character roster: What we knowThe big one. Check out how much our opinions have changed. Also some character lists starting at about page 14. I called 40 characters, on the grounds that we already had 14 characters in 12 weeks, we had to get at least a character every fortnight. This was August 4th. That month, the next month, and the month after listened to my ramblings.... then we got the Novembore / Decembore character drought. Even though we didn't know about the delay, still, sucks to be me. Later.. Ooooh! So close! So bloody close! I've been saying 40 characters for ages, with 24 starters (I like the number of unlockables to be under the amount of starters). But now, looking at the fact we seem to have died off to 1 character a fortnight on the Dojo, I've adjusted my estimates of the number of starters and, with it, the total number of characters. I'm thinking perhaps 36 is more likely, maybe with 20 or 21 starters (just for flip, since he loves grids - 21 would be 3 x 7, with a final 36 being 4 x 9. That seems to work to me) But then.... not. Is it just me or does Pokemon Trainer not appear on that poll? But yet, he's still in. I therefore don't think its worth completely basing everything on it. The way I see it, all characters with an original moveset (this includes Luigi) except Ness are back. Ness is replaced by an almost the same but not quite Lucas. Young Link and Ganondorf (and maaaaaaaaaybe Falco, but I'm guessing not) return out of the clones, with Young Link in Wind Waker style. Mario series gets Bowser Jr. He's in every Mario game now, and is the series 2nd most major enemy now. He's in. Geno is defintely an assist at best, as he is a wizzleing one-time-character that nobody should care about. And I would love Waluigi, but no, he's an assist. Krystal, Lucario, Dedede, Ridley fill out existing series' positions. All are popular and would have easy to create movesets. Captain Olimar gets in as a rep from a new series. If the quote flying around is acurate, Muddy Mole takes a spot. Sukapon also gets in for obscure WTF character hobos n' giggles. AC character gets in, no reason at the moment to assume the series wont have a playable character. Megaman and Pacman are more third party dudes. There. don't know how many that works out to, but I'm saying around 40 characters is the go. If its less than 40, Falco, King K Rool (if there are 2 DK characters in the starting roster, I definitely could see it getting an unlcokable character as well), Takamaru, etc are all possibilities to slot in. EDIT: Ooh, actually by my counting (and I will say its likely to be wrong, I'm sleepy) there are actually 40 characters there up to my 3rd party dudes. Sweet. Random quotes: but 34? 34? Its such a painful number. GIVE ME 40 AT LEAST SAKURAI. ACTUALLY DO WHATEVER. I TRUST YOU. YOU GAVE ME A PLAYABLE SQUIRTLE. Waluigi > Tingle > Takamaru and the rest of the obscure dudes > Falco > Dr Mario >>>>>>>>>>>>> Krystal > Geno Geno and Krystal deserve no love. Tei, of course, does. Tei for Brawl? Eh, enough for now.

Here's some of my classics, from the days when we used to say nice things to each other about what we wanted in Brawl, setting us up for the ultimate fall when it turned out hardly any of it actually happened: Hooray! Although my prediction of a Bowser's Superstar Saga Battleship wasn't quite so well-predicted. And my expectations were blown away tenfold! And again... my expectations were blown away shortly after when the Subspace Emissary was revealed. Ahh, the good old days. And here, for ultimate comedy value, is the original "Come Up With SSB3" thread from 2004: fryguy64.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=modern&action=display&thread=1093598330

Captain Olimar (Pikmin) He doesn't do any attacks himself, but, sorta like Ice Climbers, he's got 3 pikmin who follow him arround and attack From the thread Fry linked in 2004. Surprisingly accurate prediction for an unannounced game! ;D

Surprisingly accurate prediction for an unannounced game! ;D These also seem pretty accurate... Wario's a definite must-have. Other characters I'd like to see added include Pit... Meta Knight (Kirby's Dreamland Series) He can fly around sorta like Kirby, but most of his attacks are bassed around his sword. WarioWare, inc. Building (WarioWare Series) No idea how it'd work, but I know it'd be fun.

Wouldn't it be funny to go back in time and make predictions on everything you already know is true and show them screens and say it's photoshop just to get oodles and oodles of praise! Anyway, I'm too damn lazy to go back and find a prediction of mine, but I do remember calling Captain Olimar a couple months ago, though there's no trace of it in my memory.

Captain Olimar (if not playable) He will give orders to a random color Pikmin. Only ONE Pikmin type will be chosen each time Olimar comes from the AT. The powers for each Pikmin are: -Red; spouts flames in all directions -Blue; makes the ground around Olimar slippery -Yellow; electrocutes the nearest player -White; creates a whirlwind of poison -Purple; jumps up and down, causing boulders to fall from the sky and most players to get stuck in the ground. Olimar was revealed Jan 9th. I thought he was revealed earlier than that. As for other character predictions, I don't think there was any doubt of Wario being in this time...

Lemme take a look back to see what I expected... (on a side note, um, wow, I was a ridiculously annoying noob when I first joined. So sorry you had to put up with me, guys.)
Wow, that's...not bad. Although...Raichu, Darunia and Balloon Fighter? Blech..
Kinda close...we got the Masterpieces, and Trophies are still there of course. Hah, I certainly didn't expect the Subspace Emissary...
Damn, those all would have been awesome (SAKURAIIII WHY NO BOWSER CASTLE)...the only close one is Dragon Roost (the Great Sea stage).
Ding ding ding!
Pretty close there!
....was I fucking serious? Ugh. He certainly makes a cool boss, though... (not to mention he's not so obscure anymore, hah...)
;_;
;____;
Crraaaaap that would have been fucking awesome.
Ding ding ding! Except none of those bosses made it...
AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
More later, probably.

Hey, looky what I found! *facepalm* The way I see it, all characters with an original moveset (this includes Luigi) except Ness are back. Ness is replaced by an almost the same but not quite Lucas. Young Link and Ganondorf (and maaaaaaaaaybe Falco, but I'm guessing not) return out of the clones, with Young Link in Wind Waker style. Young Link in Wind Waker style would not be a clone. He has plenty of moves to differentiate him from TP Link. And if they make Ganondorf a clone again, that would be the dumbest act of the century. Seriously, he has dozens of moves different than Captain Falcon!I might of misunderstood your post. Please correct me if I did. Oh, Sakurai, WHY!?!?!

I can't remeber everything I said. Just a few recaps I remember
-Falco came back(right) -Toon Link in(wrong, I said it would never happen) -Olimar in(right) -Capt. Falcon hidden (wrong, said starter) -Mario Circuit hidden (Wrong, starting stage) -Few Japanese only characters (right) -Lucas in(right) I was also wrong about the roster. There was one out of the blue character, but I don't count ROB as much as we knew of him.

My first post (about Final Smashes) Some ideasFox: Calls the team to attack Peach: Pulls a "POW" from the ground and throws it Ganondorf: Pig Ganon Diddy Kong: Electric guitar Meta-Knight: Disappears while Axe Knight, Mace Knight, Trident Knight, and Javelin Knight attack Pokémon Trainer: Recalls current pokémon, throws out Mew who uses some immense psychic attack OR you get to fight as Mew temporarily (sort of like a Gigabowser) Every single one is wrong! Even though Ganondorf does transform, I meant it at a Gigabowser like thing not a quick charge attack. Instead of fighting polygons or wireframes, have a fighting Mii parade! They don't need moves, they just punch and kick. Imagine you're doing survival mode and you're one Mii KO away from unlocking some level and your little sister's Mii knocks you off the edge. Nope, no Miis in this game. I don't think Sheik will be removed. To me, the Samus transformation is different. It's a side-effect of a Super Smash and not a regular move. And I don't see why it would have any influence over Sheik's appearance in this game. Secondly, while the design of Zelda is from Twilight Princess, she is still representing the entire Legend of Zelda series. I mean, they gave Mario FLUDD, but he still has SMB1 fireballs. When people talk of Melee characters getting dropped, the characters are either clones (such as Young Link and Pichu) or there is a possible swap (Lucas for Ness). Sheik is a popular character with no one to swap out for. They have asked for designs for Sheik (which does not guarantee anything), and personally I think a Twilight Princess style Sheik would look awesome. Booya, I eat some cake. As a big Kirby fan, I've been looking forward to this day since Melee was announced. Even with the delay, Sakurai keeps revealing more and more characters in Brawl. I'm starting to think there will be at least 40 characters. Nope! Instead, there'd just be no character updates for two months. Hmmm...I wonder if the mere existence of Subspace Emissary deconfirms Young Link. Nope. He's still there. Ah well. Ideas I had before I joined NinDB that did make it into the game were Meta-Knight and a corresponding Halberd level, King Dedede, music selection, and Wolf. I didn't get Samurai Goroh, Birdo (which I don't even want and haven't for a while...but I was being a fanboy), Little Mac, or Mike Jones. I also didn't get Hyrule Castle, Duck Hunting Grounds, or Butter Building.
