Even the Masterpieces have elements that you can unlock. The types and ways to unlock them are listed below. Donkey Kong (1986, NES) It starts from stage 2. Try comparing it to the Smash Bros. stage 75m. Super Mario Bros. 2 (1988, NES) Peach’s levitation and vegetable-pulling abilities come from this game. Therefore, it starts with Peach. Super Mario World (1991, Super NES) This is the source of the Melee stage Yoshi’s Island. This game was bundled with the Super NES outside of Japan, and is quite a well-known title. F-Zero (1991, Super NES) F-Zero, the first of the series, so to speak. The Falcon Flyer only appeared in the comics in the instruction manual, though. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo 64) If you’re using the included save data, you’ll suddenly be able to play with the adult Link. When outside, you can call Link’s trusty steed Epona by drawing the ocarina and performing the following pattern: ↑←→↑←→
These are all, of course, only trial versions. If you like one of them and feel like you want to play quite a lot, then buying it would probably be the way to go.

Well, it looks like we don't get a Earthbound/Mother 2 demo. That might be for the best, as I'm not sure an RPG is well suited for a short demo. I've got all of these unlocked save Mario World (I'm working on it, should have it by morning) and OoT (Which the message on how to unlock doesn't tell you how to unlock since Ganondorf hasn't been revealed yet!).

Wasn't the 2nd level of Donkey Kong, the Pie factory level?
Anyway, with the exception of F-Zero and Donkey Kong, I'll probably won't bother with these. After all, I can just connect up my SNES/N64 and play the full versions!!

I guess it will be fun to take a break from Brawl to play these demos. I look forward to playing DK and F-Zero. I already have Mario and Zelda on my SNES, which is still hooked up and still has Mario Allstars in it.
Im guessing that on Ocarina you can only look around Hyrule field, no dungeons or anything.

Wasn't the 2nd level of Donkey Kong, the Pie factory level? Yes, but that wasn't in the NES version, which is what this is. I must admit, this could have been excellent, but it's quickly looking like one of the weakest parts of Brawl. I'd have much preferred some kind of game encyclopaedia than these half-baked play experiences.

I had the Mario World demo and I was playing it and realized: you can keep playing past that level. It's the full game, they just have you on a clock. So if somebody really cared, they could easily make a patch to get rid of that feature and voila! Brawl now includes like... 10 games in the package

Or you could play the game really fast. This might be fun for speedrunners, actually. Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros. 2 can both be beaten in under 10 minutes. Super Mario World can be beaten in a little over that.

I've got Super Mario World down to 13 minutes before, and I'm pretty damn good at that game by now. I should be... I've been playing it for nearly 2 decades

So, isn't this basically a VC with much shorter versions of the game? At least I don't have to pay my hard earned cash for it. 10 bucks? Fuck that Nintendo. Cool idea, nonetheless. I might try it if I'm too lazy to go to the Wii Shop channel.
