Clear The Subspace Emissary and you’ll find a new mode—Boss Battles! In this mode, you take down a total of ten bosses. It’s under Solo→Stadium. \ Even though it says Solo, you can enjoy this mode with two players. Whooa! Take him down! There are five difficulty levels. Except for the final boss, they’ll appear in random order. The later they arrive, the tougher they become to beat, so if I were you, I’d hope that strong bosses wouldn’t appear toward the end. You need luck here. As you enter the latter half, they get stronger and harder accordingly. One down—on to the Rest Station. The Rest Station holds three Heart Containers. If there are two players, you’ll have five hearts instead of three.
The Heart Containers will be gone forever if you use them, so plan your allocation wisely.
Built-up damage will be carried over to the next fight. The Heart Containers can negate all damage, but they’re limited in number. Now it’s a game to determine whether or not you want to use them—weighing the damage you have and the opponent in the next battle. Uh... Isn’t starting with 100% a bit reckless? By the way, because you’re playing in Stadium, you can’t continue. Sorry about that.
As the range of each difficulty level is wide, and since the clear time is displayed on the screen, I think those who love playing games over and over can truly enjoy this.
I wonder if a monster player who can clear the incredibly challenging Intense level without using any Heart Containers may exist somewhere in the world...

Do they actually just screencap the screenshot, or did they "draw" them here? 100% each looks like a good coincidence, but exact poses in the update of Japanese and other languages?
Well, the no continuing thing can be pretty annoying... I mean, the last boss could kill anyone at 0% instantly! Which means, without some techniques (yeah I'm obviously trying to avoid spoilers even this is a spoiler-allowed place) this mode is impossible to beat!

I've often wondered how they get the screenshots for these. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they make them custom using a development program or something of that sort. If you know how to beat the final boss, he's fairly easy. On Intense mode, he can kill you in one hit with certain attacks, but if you know how to dodge them, he's much easier than you'd expect. The only real techniques you have to know is how to spot dodge and how to air dodge. I've gotten all of the trophies associated with Boss Battles as well. Took forever.

Ugh, I don't know how you think the last boss is easy. He's hard. And that move where he kills you in one hit is not on Intense. It's on every mode.

In Subspace, he'd kill anyone on... easy as well. Although I've seen, other than air dodging, that people use Link's Clawshot or equivalent to grab the boss. Never thought it's possible before.

I never had that problem on any mode less than Hard. And its not easy per se, but all of his moves are telegraphed so if you know their coming, its just a matter of dodging. Other than the energy whip and the Red Ring of Death (Which is easy if you spot dodge and not roll), their fairly easy to dodge. More so than any other boss, it's a matter of memorization. Getting lucky doesn't hurt either. Slight edit to show I shouldn't post while half asleep: TV Eye, when I said has moves where he kills you in one hit, I meant the plurality. The Red Ring of Death (I'm guessing that's what you're referring to) is probably the easiest of his attacks to dodge when you get the timing down, as talked about above.

This is basicly The Arena from Kirby Super Star, which was awesome. Sakurai, you and your drawing from Super Star for most of your ideas.

Actually, most Kirby games have a Boss Battle mode. Didn't start with Kirby Super Star

Is spot dodging where you hold the shield button and tap down on the joystick, acts similar to an air dodge?

Is spot dodging where you hold the shield button and tap down on the joystick, acts similar to an air dodge? Hold the shield, and press down. It has an animation similair to air dodging and is done in one spot. Hence 'spot dodging'.

I always called it downwards dodge, and I do it waaaay to frequently. Its good though as I have avoided so many lethal projectiles with well executed spot dodges.
Plus, these menus are so Sakurai!

I just found out a cheap way to kill some bosses (like Pokey and Petey that don't really move) without getting hurt.
As Link or Toon Link, jump above them and just keep spamming your down+A. Link will keep bouncing, and you can keep repeating. The boss just keeps attacking the ground.

On the lower levels, you can survive that attack. Remember that the difficulty of each boss is not the same as it is in the SSE. The SSE gives you 4 lives. This one gives you 1.

Okay, Boss Battles on Intense is the first thing to officially truly frustrate me about this game because I cannot fucking beat it.

Here's what I did. Use Lucas. His aeriels are strong, and he has two multi hit attacks (Nair, Dair). His Psi magnet can absorb Duon's pink lasers and the Hands' bullets. Memorize the attack patterns and the tells. Use Air dodges to avoid attacks rather than shielding or spot dodging. Smash attacks work best on Rayquaza, the most commonly frustrating boss IMO. His defense is way to high. With Duon and Galleom, hit them with aeriels than air dodge if necessary and run. The Ridleys are quite easy, as is Petey Pirahna. The Hands are pushovers. Learn how to dodge Tabuu's attacks, especially the Red Ring of Death. Get the timing down or you will die. Hope you get lucky too. I don't think I could've if the bosses hadn't lined up a certain way, and Tabuu didn't use that cheap whip attack. Good luck, man.
