I Thus, I propose a forumwide expulsion of all n00bs. ;D Or at least a rule against n00bs acting n00bish, to be met with the harshest of punishments if certain standards aren't met. Are you refering to me....

Question: I've realized that I tend to post links to my website often, and while not in an advertising fashion, I'm starting to get this weird feeling I am unintentionally advertising it. This worries me, because I don't know if there's some taboo against advertising our own websites, which would be pretty easy to understand, since alot of sites I've been to do have a rule like that in place, including my own site (reason, of course, is to prevent people from coming in and doing nothing but advertise and to prevent crap like "i want u so bad baby click here 2 c me nakd." So, is it against the rules to advertise personal websites here? Also, I will guarantee that link isn't porn.

This is how I interpret this rule: If your post is not entirely about advertising your site, then it's fine.
I think even things like "hey, I've just started a new website" or including your website as part of your introductory post is fine, as long as you are not overdoing it.

The rule is simple:
If you post a link to your website for a valid reason, such as in reference to the current topic of conversation, then that's absolutely fine.
If you have created a site, and want to direct some traffic there, then that's OK once. After that, put a link to it in your signature.
If your site isn't relevant to the topic then I will delete it as spam. If you have simply created a competing forum and are trying to direct traffic there, I will delete it as spam.

Hey, I've been looking for somewhere where it's explained but I can't see it. I was wondering how Karma works on here? Is it that you click either Exalt as thumbs up or Smite as thumbs down on people's comments like on Youtube? Or is it something to do with amount of posts and any breaking of rules gets it minused? Only wondering as I noticed I've got 1 Karma now and I don't know what that really means.

Yeah its like the youtube thing. Someone Exalted you which mean you have one point. If someone Smites you you'll get 0 again. You can even get negatives if your bad or if its a bad day here.

But if you think about it for a while, it's basically completely irrelevant.

It is a totally irrelevant forum feature that I activated last time a load of people thought they would be douchebags. Irrelevant, and yet seems to be working. Like a placebo, or something. Perceived punishment is apparently a good substitute for the real thing.
