Okay, bear with me as this is my first review, and I thought I'd point out some things about this game that you might want to know.
No More Heroes is a hardcore game. It is by no means whatsoever 'casual.' It is not a game that you would want your little brother or sister to walk in and see you playing.
This is the type of game that makes you wonder if the main character, Travis Touchdown, even has a soul, the way he brutally decapitates every single person that gets in his way. He kills for money and has no remorse whatsoever.
...but you just can't help but fall in love with him.
No More Heroes has to be the most accurate depiction of a game trying to be a comic book I have ever seen. The attention to detail is almost unreal for a video game. The Cel-Shaded graphics help give all the different personalities you come in contact with a sense of emotion (similar to Wind Waker). Every character has a back story, even if they are shown for less than a minute, they have an intricate, and well thought out past.
For example, one character (the second boss named 'Dr. Peace') comments how he always wanted to sing in the largest baseball stadium (which he does, thanks to Travis unknowingly paying for the good doctor's final dinner and moments with his daughter). Dr. Peace though is in no way a doctor. He is a Native American detective who has been divorced and lost a custody battle with his ex-wife ten years ago. All this is explained in the brief prologue before the fight.
When Travis is not trying to become the worlds number one assassin, he performs various odd jobs to pay for his next fight. These are usually mini-games that use the Wiimote and Nunchuk together (sometimes). Whether you're lifting dumbbells to increase your strength, or even mowing the lawn to make an extra $300. The Wiimote is used to its fullest potential. The mini-games themselves would make for an excellent stand alone game.
Even the fighting is very technical. You can perform various wrestling moves you learn, which helps to branch away from the monotonous sword swinging. Hell, even fighting with the sword is fun, because after you kill someone, an arrow will pop up directing you to swing the Wiimote in the direction it points to perform a powerful finishing move.
No More Heroes is an amazing (but mature) game, that everyone here should try. It's a game you have to see to believe. I highly recommend it.
