I've got Spot Goes to Hollywood, and man does it suck. It came out on the Genesis, the SNES and the Playstation. The PSX version wasn't even the same game. It was completely different. And it sucked too. Yay! Kirby's Dream Land 3, the forgotten classic out of the Kirby games.

Cool Spot is really good, I got it for the Genesis. Spot for the NES, which I also have, is pretty bad. I don't care much for it. Although I have yet to play other ports of Cool Spot, and any port of Spot Goes To Hollywood.

Speaking of franchised games, any of you play McKids? Do you think that has a chance on Virtual Console? I think Howard--er, I mean, Mr. Molecule--has played it. I've heard varying opinions on it, from being a fun Super Mario rip-off to a piece of garbage. It is, of course, a McDonald's license, so I'm guessing it has about as much chance of appearing on the VC as Cool Spot. (Very little.)

Only 1 game for NA this week, but it's a good one - 1080 Snowboarding (N64, Nintendo). I'll be DL'ing it. ^_^ Also, Psychosis (Duo, Compile) has been rated for NA too. 1080 Snowboarding looks interesting I had the sequel , but since that only 3 boarders are in both games and I'll be willing to try it.

McKids (or Macdonaldland, as I knew it) wasn't that bad really. It wasn't superb, but I don't think it deserved the AVGN treatment In my opinion, 1080 Avalanche was better than 1080 Snowboarding, but I know this opinion is not widespread. They're both awesome, and if you liked Avalanche, definitely give the original a go!

I hold the opposite opinion of Fry. Avalanche is easier to control and pull off tricks, but I liked the complexity and depth that its N64 version offered. I also liked the tracks more. But it's all good either way. ^_^

I have yet to play a 1080 title. I've rethought buying Avalanche many times. I'll buy it eventually.

I've only played 1080: Avalanche, but I thought it was pretty clever.
However, if you're in the mood for a snowboarding game, forget 1080 altogether and find yourself a copy of SSX 3. I've said it before and I'll say it again: SSX 3 is better than 1080!
If you're only interested in 1080 because it was developed by Nintendo, then take off the Nintendo goggles. If playing a snowboarding game still sounds fun after that, then SSX 3 is worth looking into.
Now, having said that, I've considered getting 1080 Snowboarding off the VC because I like snowboarding games. I'm a little hesitant, tho, because I'm wondering if being such an early entry in the genre will make it feel archaic. Heck, I remember reviews of 1080: Avalanche at the time saying it felt archaic next to the advances other snowboarding games had made since the original.

I think the original 1080 controls quite well, myself. You just have to work at getting really good at it. 1080s themselves were extremely hard to nail. In my opinion, Avalanche is not a good judge of its N64 relative. They are quite different.
I haven't played SSX, but that was more due to not liking the character design than anything else. Maybe I'll give 3 a go when I see one on the cheap. ^_^

Personally, I'd like to see an SSX/1080 crossover. When Mario & Co were included in SSX: On Tour, I was a little disappointed they didn't throw in a few 1080 characters as well. (They certainly would've been more interesting than the secret characters that were included.) Putting Ricky Winterborn and Akari Hayami on the same slope as Mac Frazer and Kaori Nishidake would seem pretty natural to me.[/pointless rambling] EDIT: I should also mention that used copies of SSX games tends to be a lot cheaper than used copies of 1080: Avalanche. (At least, around here.) When I bought SSX Tricky used, it was only about $7, which is even less than 1080 on the VC.

Europe and Australia get Lords of Thunder (Duo, Hudson/Red) this week. Still don't like this one game a week thing. *grumble*

Looks like NA Wii owners get the same game PAL users got last week: Lords of Thunder (Duo, Hudson/Red). Boo (not for the game, but for the amount).
Along with that, Europe and Australia have rated Mega Turrican (Gen, Factor 5).
EDIT - I was wrong (I'm not completely trusting anything before 9 AM anymore); NA owners also got Harvest Moon (SNES, Natsume) today.

All of the trilogy was on GBC, Only the first was reanimated. Taking care of a ranch is such a meritorious blessing. Their music is touching too.

Looks like it's a Genesis one-two punch for Europe and Australia this week, as Phantasy Star II (Gen, Sega) and Eternal Champions (Gen, Sega) are going to be the choices.
