That's cool! I don't usually hang about when the European VC releases appear, so I can put those up (Thursday, midnight).

Last week we got:

For the Europe, we have Yoshi's Story (N64, Nintendo), Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly Paradise (TDuo, Hudson) and Magician Lord (Neo Geo, SNK/Alpha Denshi). Australia is the same this week.

As for North America, Hudson has revealed some of the future VC dates for some TG titles - 10/29 will see the release of Samurai Ghost (Namco Bandai), and November will feature Power Golf and Super Air Zonk.

Samurai Ghost is indeed one of the VC titles this week, as well as Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES, Konami) and Magician Lord (NeoGeo, SNK/Alpha Denshi) for a special Halloween-themed week.

Simon's Quest is quite different from the other two NES CV titles, but I liked it when I was a kid. I do know some people here didn't care for it, but for a NES game, it certainly brought quite a bit of innovation to the table with its day/night system and early blend of RPG elements.

This week for Europe and Australia, we get Alien Soldier (Genesis, Treasure), Sonic 3D: Flickie's Island (Genesis, Sega, U.S. title Sonic 3D Blast), Samurai Ghost (TG16, Namco Bandai) and Art of Fighting (NeoGeo, SNK). 4 games, not bad!

Sonic 3D Blast is decent, but the isometric perspective doesn't help Sonic's speed in this case. If you're hankering for some Sonic action, get one of the older titles or play Sonic Mega Collection instead. Art of Fighting is one of the more visually impressive fighters of its time, but it only has two playable characters and it controls a bit stiff for my liking. I'd wait for Samurai Showdown to arrive for some SNK fighter action.

Europe and Australia will see Power Golf for the TG16 next week. That's all for today!

Mario 3 is my favorite 2D Mario, and also one of my favorite 2D games period. A pinnacle of game design for the NES. ^_^

Future Release Update!

For the TG-16, we now have Y's Book I and II (Nihon Falcom) and The Dynastic Hero (Hudson) on the TBR list for Europe, and both will be 800 Wii points (due to being Duo titles). That'll make some old school RPG fans happy. ^_^

Also, I've imported the various To Be Released lists in the first post of this thread for all three regions. That way, we'll know what has been announced or approved to be released in specific regions so we can salvate in anticipation.

Only Double Dribble (NES, Konami) arrives on the Virtual Console for Europe and Australia. A decent basketball game, probably the better one on the NES...but man, that's sparse.

Anyway, Wonder Boy III: Monster's Lair (Genesis, Westone) has been rated for Europe, while Monster Lair (TDuo, Westone) is rated for Australia. Note that this is the same game...but for different systems...so either Wikipedia's editor screwed up, or each region is getting a different version. XD To quote Wiki:

Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair is an arcade game developed by Westone Co. Ltd in 1988 and published by Sega. Console adaptions were made by Sega, released in 1990 for the PC-Engine/Turbografx-16 in Japan and America, and for the Mega Drive in both Japan and Europe (in 1991).

*shrugs* Anyway, Skate or Die (NES, Konami/EA) is rated for Australia and Europe, Ys Book I & II has joined the NA lineup, Super Air Zonk will be arriving on NA VC's on the 19th, and Rolling Thunder II is confirmed for a NA rating. I'll be making these modifications to the main chart.

This week, in celebration of Wii's first anniversary (which I did not know...thanks Kotaku!), North America gets Wrecking Crew (NES, Nintendo), Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis, Sega) and Super Air Zonk (TG16, Hudson).

Sonic 3D Blast, as I mentioned before, is decent I suppose, but the isometric perspective really puts a damper on Sonic's speed...which is everything to the franchise. Sonic Mega Collection also has it...so save some Wii points for something else. I for one will probably try out Wrecking Crew, since I've never had the chance.

For Europe & Austraila this week, we have Bubble Bobble (NES, Taito) and King of Fighters 94 (NeoGeo, SNK). The Dynastic Hero (Duo, Hudson/Westone) is confirmed for release next week.

King of Fighters all ready, eh? Surprising. Bubble Bobble is a good arcade title that is rich with levels and fun with two players...but you can also get it with the PS2/Xbox Taito Legends (if it came out in both regions...).

For North America this week, Double Dribble (NES, Konami), Vegas Stakes (SNES, Nintendo) and Ecco Jr. (Genesis, Sega) arrive on the VC.

Double Dribble, as I mentioned before, is an adequate b-baller for the NES, and probably the better one for the system. Ecco Jr. is a simplified Ecco game intended for kids, so you['d probably be best to avoid that one (unless you're an Ecco freak ).
