Sweet, it didn't count. We got Top Hunter for Neo Geo and Megaman 2.
I haven't played a Megaman game before (gasp?) - I really should hunt down some points and grab MM2.

Mega Man 2 is considered by most to be the pinnacle of the series. While I love its sequel more, MM2 is still an excellent game worthy of your time. In ratings news, Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES, Nintendo/Rare) has popped up on the Europe/Australia lists. Hm...anyone from Europe/Australia, is the NES Ghosts N Goblins out on the VC there? It's not listed on the Wikipedia list, so I want to remove it from my upcoming list if it has been.

Yeah, we've had it for ages.

Thanks, Fry, I'll kill that in the list. XD
Anyway, North Americans can look forward to Cybernator (SNES, Konami), Alien Storm (Genesis, Sega) and Monster Lair (aka Wonder Boy III, TG-16, Hudson/Westone) today.
Mega Turrican (Genesis, Factor 5, NA) is a new addition to the list, and Monster Lair will also be hitting Europe and Australian VC's this week.

^ Europe has had Cybernator for a while, so I'm glad to see it finally get released over here. I haven't played it since I rented it when I was younger, but I recall it being awesome. Current opinions seem to concur, so I recommend checking it out.
I've never played Target Earth on the Genesis, but I've heard it's part of the same series (read: based on the same anime). However, it's currently only available on the Japanese VC.

Double post! Kotaku and Joystiq report that Nintendo's Japanese Virtual Console page contains two empty spaces in the system selection. Kotaku speculates that the Sega Master System could be one. Joytsiq adds the MSX to it's possibilities (altho, I thought the MSX had already been confirmed). Of course, I think I would like to see the Saturn.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure MSX was confirmed. I'm also not so sure the spaces mean anything, but GameBoy would be quite nice.

MSX has been confirmed for some time, but a newcomer is always a welcome idea. Game Boy would be kinda neat, but I'd almost rather see the Master System or Saturn pop up instead...missed out on those two Sega eras.
Europe and Australia have rated some new TurboDuo titles - Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes (Nihon Falcom), Lords of Thunder (Hudson/Red), and Riot Zone (Hudson/Westone).

Blades of Steel (NES, Konami), Skate or Die! (NES, Konami/EA) and Monster Lair (Duo, Hudson/Westone) are the downloads this week for Europe and Australia.
Blades of Steel is the best hockey game for the NES, and arguably in the top 3 sports games of the system. It's a lot of fun.

North America gets Blades of Steel (NES, Konami), Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES, Nintendo/Rare) and Rolling Thunder II (Genesis, Namco Bandai) this week.

DKC3 is somewhat appropriate since I believe it had the "MERRY" code to give the game a Christmas theme.
Speaking of which, I've never played DKC3. I've played the first two, and I'm one of those people that thought the second was much better than the first. How does the third stack up?

It's the same as the first two, except no Diddy, or Donkey.
Also, here's a fun fact...Diddy Kong's Quest is a play on words, when you say it fast, it sounds like Diddy's Conquest...

DKC3 is fun, and it's a good fit with the other two. But I found the game wasn't anything excitingly new beyond DKC2, so basically think of it as DKC2 with a fat baby instead of Diddy. That's... about it ;p

I guess you're the type who doesn't pay much mind to a game's art direction. I love DKC3 to death based on it's setting alone.

Also, here's a fun fact...Diddy Kong's Quest is a play on words, when you say it fast, it sounds like Diddy's Conquest... Its actually Diddy's Kong Quest, which sounds even more like Diddy's Conquest, but sounds much lamer when pronounced properly. And as a nice segue, PAL got DKC3 yesterday as a surprise update (ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!)
