I don't know if there are anyone into this series here... Well, I like it. I'm more of a casual gamer than a fan towards this series; but it really IS fun.
Anyway, Metal Slug 7 will come... without an arcade version. Instead of being made for an arcade system, it will be made for the DS instead, marking the first in the main series.
Apparently, the graphics seem to be tuned down (I always dislike portable systems when it comes to resolution; in this aspect the DS isn't even comparable to the NES) and are smaller; and it has been reported that the background/objects are a bit confusing with one of the article I read stating the writer fell into a pit, assuming it was solid ground. This could actualy be a bit disturbing as you may fail to see some enemies coming.
As for the game itself, it uses the same system and characters as MS6 (and Marco is still ugly), with some new slugs and new modes. This is one of the advantages of releasing a game on a non-arcade: You can put more diversed contents in. The main game also seems to be longer, with 7 missions compared to 5 or 6 in the past games.
The only thing I'd say I don't like, besides the constraints of the DS itself, would be the lack of... er, Metal Slug 1-6. Why is the Wii version of Anthology unavailable for Japanese-version systems!? I thought it would be the first time I break my record for not having 3rd party games... it didn't, because of the "not in Japan" thing.
Anyway, I'll probably like the idea. It's always nice to pick up a heavy machine gun and go sweeping after a tiring working day, so it would be a good choice to put the game in a portable system, after all.
