I've been only vaguely following this other survival horror game for the Wii. Usually when there's an article or trailer for it, I don't pay it much attention because I assume it focuses on the PS360 versions of the game, and doesn't really apply to the Wii version. (On a side note, do you ever get the feeling that when a multi-console game appears on the Wii, the publisher said, "Aw heck, as long as we're doing a Wii version, let's crank out a PS2 version, also," or vice-versa?) Anyway, I've heard a little about how the Wii version uses gestures for some of its functions, but it doesn't have dynamic fire like the PS360 verison, and the game areas are more linear and not wide open. IGN posted a trailer specifically for the Wii version that focuses a lot on the motion control. It looks pretty good. Actually, it reminds me a lot of the kinds of trailers we saw for Wii games back around the console's launch. Don't know if that's good or bad. The game also uses a DVD-style menu that even lets you skip to specific "chapters" whenever you want. Supposedly, they implemented it so people don't get stuck in the game and give up playing it. I don't know if that's such a good idea, tho.

I bet this game will star Vin Diesel, knowing how mass marketing is.
He was in the Alone in the Dark movie, right? I couldn't get through the whole thing.

That trailer made this game look really, really good, alot of smartly implemented motion controls there, hopefully they actually work when the game is played.
Hopefully more games that use the Wii Remote (and Nunchuck) like this get made.

The movie starred Christian Slater, and was directed by the infamous Uwe Boll. So, y'know, I wouldn't judge the game based on the movie. (True for any game-based movie, really.)

I got it confused with Pitch Black! Alone in the Dark was that old PC game, right? Yeah. This might be good.

Yeah, Alone in the Dark is an old school survival horror series based off of HP Lovecraft's mythos, Teev. It pretty much created the survival horror genre as we know it today. It's gameplay was more or les commendered by Resident Evil later. The series pretty much dissepeared after 95 or so. There was a game for the Playstation and Dreamcast, but I don't remember to much about it so it must have been pretty forgettable.

The only Alone in the Dark game I played was the GBC port of The New Nightmare. And that was absolutely horrible. I'd play console versions of it or the first two AitD games though.

BUMP!
I should point out that AitD is getting some really bad review scores, it appears the game is quite glitchy and has a lot of bad moments. IGN just gave the Wii version a 3.1 out of 10. It seems the only positive this game has is the music.

I figured as much. It's a dead classic.
