I recently downloaded Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest on my Wii for 800 Wii Points, and now I feel like I've wasted 8 hard earned USA dollars on some game I download on my Mac. Conversely, since it actually seems like a fun game, should I be happy that I have it legally and thumb my nose at "video game piracy"?

I recently bought a sandwich at a store for $5, and now I feel I've waster 5 hard earned AUS dollars on some food I could have made at home. Conversely, since it wasn't just made with a half defrosted piece of bread from the freezer, should I be happy that I have a fresh sandwich and thumb my nose at making my own sandwiches?
I have no idea what the point of your post was

Umm...actually, it's that I felt bad because I already have DKC 2 on my computer. You didn't have to be sarcastic...

Of course I have no problem at all with Downloads if you intend on buying the game at a later date. You're supporting the Industry. (I think)

For some reason, I feel compelled to buy every iteration of the original Super Mario Bros. I find that buying a game makes you appreciate it more - whereas downloading it for free makes it a throwaway attraction that you can pick up and drop far too easily. And cheating's easier too. But with the cost of living going up, and the cost of games going up... It's THEIR fault for being GREEDY!

Actually I don't see anything illegal with NES/SNES/N64 roms. So if I buy say Excitebike 64 on eBay Nintendo gets nothing. If download a rom ninty gets nothing. I still prefer owning the original because roms for N64 doesn't work well. ...and if you already own the game the rom for that game is legal for you I think.

ROM's shouldn't be illegal, nor should downloading things in general. But call it whatever you want, but I'm one to want the original cartridges. But then again I'm a collector.

This court hereby finds the defendant Mr. Molecule.... GUILTY! *bangs gavel* Seriously though, my take on this is that I have no problems with ROMS and such (I believe it is the actual emulators that are illegal, and not the actual ROMs themselves - someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If a company makes a game, then it'll inevitibly be emulated for those people who don't have the money to buy it. Seeing as SMRPG might not make it to the VC, (due to licensing issues, etc) I may be forced to go down the emulator route myself. I can't imagine how you'd play DKC2 on a mac, though.

OBJECTION! (I couldn't resist) What do you mean you can't imagine how I'd play DKC2 on a Mac? Haven't you heard of emulators?

It's pretty easy. The buttons are set up the way they are on a SNES controller, with Z,A, X, and S being the buttons. A is the jump button, IIRC, and Z is the cartwheel/ dash. Granted, I only have the DKC Rom (I've got the cartridge!), but it's the same. ZSNES is a great emulator.

You could also get a USB controller...

Indeed, I got quite a good and inexpensive USB controller that is similar to the Dualshock. It means that all NES, SNES, GB and Arcade games are quite easy to play. Sometimes it's a little TOO digital, making it hard to perform tricky moves like crouch-sliding in SMB, but you can switch it over to the analogue stick if you prefer.
I hated using the keyboard and I never got used to it.

I have thousands of games on my PC and I don't feel guilty at all.
