After much hunting, I finally got my hands on this game for a reasonable price ($30). I was really stoked about a classic 2D Mario platformer on the DS and although I went ahead and bought Yoshi's Island DS, played through a borrowed copy of New SMB, and avoided Wario: MoD like the plague, this was the one the I most wanted to try. Needless to say, I feel that this game should have been more heavily advertised for what it was: a return to Mario's roots. And although Peach relies on really sexist powers, c'mon--it's the Princess. It's what she's known for. We could argue Mario's love of food is sexist against men, yet we don't for whatever reason. The point is, this is a very very charming game. Easy as pie, but charming. I am taking it slow my first time through to get the full effect, because I am already realizing how simplistic the gameplay is going to be. But due to the sheer amount of retro references, and the very nice Mario and Luigi style introduction, I really want this game to be enjoyed. I suppose my main question is this: has anybody else played this game, and what thoughts do you have? Apparently it was lampooned for its easiness and casual gameplay, but praised for the Marioness of it all at the same time. Thoughts? And btw, this game WAS going to have the Koopalings, but we all knew that, right?

I got it and beat it, it was a really fun game with loooooots of things to find, somehow I felt the stage design more Kirbysh than Marioish, but it is still lots of fun.
TIP: If you want to feel the game not so easy, I suggest to not buy any upgrades, I did that and the game felt on a good difficult level

It needs a sequel. A less stereotypical and more challenging sequel.

I was going to get this game but a lot of people told me it was suckish and not worth getting. I'm probably going to get it anyways though. It's cool to have the Princess save Mario and Luigi for a change.

Agreed. But perhaps something different from the cliched "rescue him/ her" plot if there ever was a sequel.

Yeah, I got this game when it came out. I actually enjoyed it, considering that I thought I would have to return it. I really enjoyed the boss battles and the storyline was pretty cool. I think they could of made minigames online or something, but whatever. A sequal would be pretty cool. I thought this game would have to do something with Peach in Brawl. But to a big suprise she got nothing. No perry. And I thought here Final Smash would be her using 1 or all of here vibes.

I discovered that Peach doesn't run the same way she did in Melee, with her arms out. In Brawl, she holds her dress--just like SPP. Also, the umbrella changed its design to match at least Perry's "pattern" as opposed to the old one. Her singing taunt may be a SPP reference and the fact that all enemies fall asleep during the Final Smash could be her using the "vibes" to make everybody "calm." Just food for thought.

To me, it was really too short and too easy for me to get into. I missed out on the early adventures of Mario; I never owned an NES or SNES, and only got to play Super Mario Bros/World games fleetingly. No, my early Mario memories come from the Gameboy; Super Mario Land being short but hard, Super Mario Land 2 being long yet slightly more forgiving. So I'm used to either the length or the challenge, and SPP didn't provide me with either. It didn't feel like $30 well spent, you know? I'm pretty sure I traded it into Gamestop like a week after it came out.

Simple put: This game is GREAT. It has what an action game needs to have. Exploring and roam across a 2D world... and it's not ike you can finish it in come 5~15 stages like a normal Mario game would with the use of alternate routes. Just a simple platformer with vast enough actions.
And =Hail-NekoYasha is the funniest artist I've seen.

Peach having a health bar that she can refill is very disappointing, and the actual game itself is way, way too easy.
Even the bosses are really easy *yawn*.

Super Princess Peach felt like a good balance between several old Mario platformers. Yes, it was easy. Yes, you couldn't die. But it was entertaining, and the later levels were a test of platforming ability.

Sounds worth playing, I always meant to get it but I wasn't man enough to walk into the store and ask for Super Princess Peach.
