Wii Questions

I originally wanted to call this "Wii Ask" but it souned too much like a game name.

Now that I've got a Wii, there are some questions I would like to ask.

(1) Wii system stuff

(A) If I want to clear the dirtiness of Wii, can I simply backup everything I have to an SD card, kill the Wii, and restore the data to the newly formatted Wii? I heard that all data on Wii are non-transferrable...

(B) Upon the slaughter of my Wii, will I be able to get a new Wii number? And with the Wii considered a new one, wil my friend code and such change?

(C) I stored something to the Wii Remote. Can I retrieve or delete them without having the relevant game?



(2) Wii channels (my least favourite part about the Wii)

(A) I once started te News Channel, and now things keep feeding in on the Wii Menu screen. Can I disable it or let the channel never connect again?

(B) What about the weather channel?

(C) I used a certain Mii to create profiles in games. What will happen if I modify the Mii? What about deleting it?



(3) Wii hardware

(A) I heard from a seller that some 3rd party component cable could make the Wii produce 720p output. Well, I tried it and it turned out to be the same old 640*480 screen (yeah, this from a next-gen console; like I said, not having down-t-detail graphics doesn't mean players have to read pixels). Have I been cheated? I could have asked the seller to replace a cheaper, official one! (Which would be even more satisfying for me)

(B) My Wii remotes keep flashing lights (very bright ones) whenever I touch any bitton or move them to the slightest (they flash whenever they detect anything). If I try to eliminate this problem by removing the battries, will I be able to use it to power up my Wii as the default 1P again without synchronizing?

1a) I'm fairly certain it wouldn't work as the Wii would be treated as a different one
b) Yes
c) I dunno. Why do you need to? Whats the difference?

2a) If you don't connect for a few days it will stop.
b) Ditto
c) You can modify the Mii all you want, it will continue to store the data. If you delete it you'll either lose all the data or it will be transferred to a default Mii depending on the game - the game should tell you this when you create a profile

3a) I dunno
b) You shouldn't have to syncronise again

c) I dunno. Why do you need to? Whats the difference?

Let's say I put something in my Wiimote from a game that I don't have in someone else's home, and now I want to free the space. I thought od a situation like this, and thus this question.

2a) If you don't connect for a few days it will stop.

Do you mean not starting the channel or not connecting to Nintendo WFC at all?

Barely anything stores to the Wiimote though so its not like theres a premium on space.

And just don't connect to the channel.The live feed will die.

(A) Nope, it will all be gone. Anything on the SD card will become useless. Save files will be ok.

(B)Yes

(C)Don't think so.


(2) Wii channels

(A)ZA better question is why

(B) see top

(C)Modifying it will change it in the game. If deleted, two things can happen. If the Mii was the face or a save file or online avatar, it will simply be removed and sometimes replace. If it held any data it will be lost (for Wii Sports)



(3) Wii hardware

(A)I'm going to say yes, but I'm ganna get back to you on that

(B) Note:Wiimote turn on when the system turns on. Just don't touch the ones your using

As for re syncing it depends. I've been able to take out the batters and use it right away, but other times I had to re sync it.
