You freaking read that right! Shortest rumor ever, Square Enix has officially announced the game with a speechless teaser site. www.square-enix.co.jp/ctds/I've heard great things for years, by people who owned a Super Nintendo. Never got to play it, but I will now!

Wow, that rumor got confirmed pretty darn fast.
I have not played many RPG's except for Pokemon Blue and Leaf Green and I have always wanted to get a good game from the genre. (Yes, I know EarthBound and The World Ends with You exist but they have not been released here yet and I don't want to have to use an emulator).
This game has definitely got my interest.

Holy. Crap. I can't believe it's getting made! I loved Chrono Trigger, and think it's one of the best RPGs made. I can only hope if it is a remake, that they stick to sprites. Those sprites were too damn good to get replaced with undoubtedly sub par 3d graphics.

I remember that a group of people were remaking this game in 3D for PC, but Square told them to quit. That was years ago though. Anyway, yeah I kinda hope they stick to (improved) 2D sprites and add new places/ new friggen era's to the game.

Aaaaaaand the shitstorm begins. X( I've spent years associating with people who won't shut the fuck up about this game. It's just one more JRPG in a sea of JRPG diarrhea, and now people are gonna be squabbling like dumb chickens over it for another fifteen years.

It's just one more JRPG in a sea of JRPG diarrhea, and now people are gonna be squabbling like dumb chickens over it for another fifteen years. It's not just one more JRPG. It's was made by the two great powers in Japanese RPGs: Square and Enix. It was like if SEGA and Nintendo decided to make a platformer together during the 16-bit era. Anyway, I kind of missed this one the first time around, so I'll definitely pick it up this time.

TEi sounds bitter. Chrono Trigger is one of the best games I've played, hands down. It's also my favorite JRPG outside of Skies of Arcadia, one that goes a bit beyond the usual conventions the genre at the time afforded. The battle system is great, the story quite intriguing, and has enjoyable characters. A new game (remake with sprites, please!) makes me giddy. Edit - Too damn excited this morning, forgot about Skies. XD

Idiots claiming they cried at certain parts won't change the fact that Chrono Trigger's cool beans, not for me anyway.
I always found it a neat little touch how, when you died in the final battle, instead of the regular game over screen you'd see a bunch of cutscenes showing how Lavos ruined the planet.

Let's identify, shall we? The art style is by Akira Toriyama, so that already throws it out of the "Serious and mysterious" genre. The main characters are kids, so that branches from the "Man with no family on a quest to do shit" ideal. And finally, have you seen the battles? There aren't technically random battles. You just walk up the the enemy and start kicking his ass right there! So TEi, what the fuck are you talking about?

Chrono Cross >>>>>> Chrono Trigger
In all seriousness, this is uber sweet. I might finally get a DS for this. (Damn America and it's DS shortages -_-)

Yeah, I want them to use the PSX version anime cutscene things.
I won't get the PSX version cause of loading times, and the SNES version runs up a pretty penny on eBay ever since I got a SNES (prolly before, even), so this was the perfect news.
TEi, does this mean I can't be excited for the remake of FFIV? D:

I hope the extras justify a DS version over a Virtual console release.
