I was looking for the TV spots from Japan and Korea the game got on Youtube and the internet everywhere else, and apparently the only existing videos were removed for violation...
What happened? How can I see them?

Huh...
I recall in a Youtube vid of yours an anime-styled Takamaru fighting for a few seconds before vanishing. What's that from?

It was part of the Famicom Classics Collection and was one of the better selling titles if I'm not mistaken--definitely beat Metroid and Kid Icarus. Heh, as a matter of fact, we never got the GBA port of Kid Icarus either. Ironic, considering Japan doesn't acknowledge there was a Western-only GameBoy sequel. I guess Kid Icarus is just one of those franchises nobody wants to admit was larger than one game EDIT: Nazo is on the Japanese VC, so maybe some day soon we'll get it as an import game?

That clip is rather interesting. A shame that's so low quality, because those Zelda bits are identical to the game's artwork... and some of the clips there are of pictures I've never seen before. Like the one with Link and the old man.

Aye, which is why that artwork is such high quality compared to the rest of the artwork in the manual. It's animation cels on painted backgrounds. Rare to see artwork of that quality back then.

On English Wikipedia, I read that Fuji Television produced a television drama loosely based on the game in 1986. Is there any more info about that? Is it a series or a single film? Are there at least one or two screenshots on the net? The Japanese Wikipedia also mentions the drama, but there's no further information, either.
Hmm, "loosely based" - the same does Wikipedia tell about the Super Mario Bros. live action movie...

Is there any website with a compendium of all movies and TV series based on Nintendo games ever made, actually? But the name of the Nazo no Murasamejou film is longer than the game's title, isn't it? And what is that DVD called? www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20051122/pony.htm

A very cooperative and friendly user from German Wikipedia, Mps, translated the information given in the Japanese source for the German Wikipedia article on the game. So that are the details on the movie (from Japanese to German to English): - It was first broadcast on 8th December 1986 on Fuji Television. - It was broadcast within the dorama series "Getsuyō Dorama Land" (Monday Dorama Land, dorama being Japanese television drama) - The film's full title is "Onyanko Torimonochō: Nazo no Murasamejō" (Onyanko Mystery Story: Mysterious Murasame Castle). (not sure about the English translation, could also be Detective Story or Crime Story) - The male leading role (Takamaru) was portrayed by Masaki Kyōmoto. The female leading role was portrayed by Sanae Jōnouchi, who is an enka singer today (enka=a Japanese music style) and who was a member of the girl group "Onyanko Club" back then. Portrayed both the roles O-Kayo and Yuki-hime ("Snow Princess"). In many films of those dorama series, a member of the girl group portrayed the (female) leading role. - On 16th November 2005, the film was released on the DVD "Onyanko Club in Getsuyō Dorama Land BOX 2" together with two other films, published by Pony Canyon (a Japanese company). EDIT: Did some fixes in terms of the actors. Mps even did Google research and found more information.

Found this nice piece with Google: www.otakaraou.com/product/3941If I understand the Google translations right, this is a game guide mixed with manga scenes. I guess in a somewhat similar manner to this Kirby's Adventure guide (with different drawing style, of course).
