Mario and Yoshi in Donkey Kong Land 2

This isn't really new information but I didn't see it posted on the DKL2 page or in the master file. Basically, Mario and Yoshi both appear in DKL2 in the exact same fashion they do in DKC2.

I remember at one point in the Mario community that there was some question as to whether that cameo had carried over into DKL2. Don't know if that's still going around, however I have played through DKL2 and can confirm that they do appear. There is a screenshot of it at TMK (I was actually the one who submitted it to them, wow that was a long time ago).

What I think is interesting about this cameo more than anything is that in DKL2, if you get fewer than 10 hero coins, you still take third tier (as the screenshot shows). As far as I know, Link did not make it into the game. I always wanted to play through and avoid getting any hero coins to see if he appeared then, but judging by the way the screen looks I doubt that would have been possible. Also, the Earthworm Jim and Sonic references are absent, as is Cranky rambling off to the side, IIRC.

Again, I doubt this information is new to anyone but just wanted to bring it up.

I'm sorry, I have in fact already been supplied this information and have gathered screenshots. It's not been published on the main site yet (mainly because it's going through a big redevelopment).

And sure enough, even if you finish with 0 coins, you are still third place on the podium, so no Link anywhere to be found.

Waddaya mean "what about second place"? If you have more coins than Yoshi, he gets third and you get second.

Yeah, Mario and Yoshi are always there, and Diddy either appears first, second or third. In Donkey Kong Country 2, if you really did badly then you appeared off the podium, and Link would take your place. That doesn't happen in DKL2. It's just you, Mario and Yoshi.

You surely already have supplied the information for the GBA remake of DKC2, too, but haven't published it yet, right? But there Link and Yoshi changed the places and Yoshi would disappear if Diddy made it to the podium.

Oh, I really DID badly. Otherwise, actually I started to collect DK coins AFTER the podium scene, since now it made sense to collect them. And I was only around 9 years old this time...
