Take, for example, Zack and Wiki. Many "hardcore" gamers didn't pick it up, saying stuff like "ew, look at it's cover! Is that an annoying monkey mascot? This is SUCH a kiddie game", but those who did pick it up know better. Its a hardcore challenge full of mind melting puzzles and Eureka moments that leave you crying for brain rest, but also crying for more.

Cute games can sometimes be good. With that in mind, I present to you Ninjatown coming for the DS. It may be SICKENINGLY cute, but I hear it might have some addictive pikmin-meets-defend-the-castle gameplay, as you try to manage a band of ninjas trying to protect the town. Also might have a subtle sense of humour (ninja businessmen? Ninja consultants? Honour and cookies above all things!)

I'd still wait until reviews come in though

It's looks significantly better than flash graphics.
Which is not to say all flash looks bad at all.

I'll be honest, when a game looks like no effort has been put into the graphics, I am highly sceptical until I see some review scores.

Zack & Wiki isn't the same. That's just not appealing to the "mature" gamer (what an oxymoron!) but the graphics are perfect for the type of game it is.

Sometimes a game has "quick and easy" graphics because that's all it needs. Check out Wii Sports, Brain Training, WarioWare... But sometimes a game just looks bad because the developers are trying to make a quick buck on the back of that kind of game's cheap production values.

Oh, and on the subject of games that look like Flash that will probably be crap - just want to say that I called it on Eternity's Child being a piece of crap!
