Mushroomy Kingdom (Overworld)

Super Mario RPG - The Road is Still Full of Dangers
Despite the problems with sourcing Super Mario RPG music, its still true its got one of the best soundtracks of all Nintendo's games.

Super Mario RPG - Beware the Forest Mushrooms
And again, this is possibly the most famous song in Super Mario RPG.

Mushroomy Kingdom (Underworld)

Super Mario RPG - Barrel Volcano
Again, if you're looking for good Mario underground music, you can't beat Barrel Volcano.

Mario Circuit

Diddy Kong Racing - Title
Diddy Kong Racing had some great music, and I really think Mario Circuit should have represented more of Nintendo's racing games - the Excite Truck remix should be shoved in with F-Zero or something.

Stunt Race FX - Main Theme
I love this game, and I love its music. It wasn't exactly popular, but then neither is 3D Hot Rally. Music from the game was supposed to be in Brawl... but was lost along the way.

Rumble Falls

Donkey Kong 94 - Scaling the Tower
It's not long or complex... but the whole final world of Donkey Kong 94 had this high-tension music. And as this is a climbing stage, it fits.

Donkey Kong 94 - Staff Roll
This is here just because it's one of my favourite Nintendo tracks ever. Both this and Scaling the Tower could also work on the 75m stage.

Donkey Kong Country 3 - Stilt Village
Say what you like about DKC3, it was much better than DKC2 (less bugs and a reasonable difficulty curve). The music was also more fun. This was the music played in the first stage, and I love it. I died a little when it was removed from the GBA remake.

Bridge of Eldin

Nazo no Murasamejou - Murasame's Land
Remix this. The final world music from Nazo no Murasamejou is just awesome - especially for 1986.

Pirate Ship

Kaeru no Tameni Kaneha Naru - Main Theme
If you're going to use Kaeru music, Pirate Ship is the best fit for a stage. And if you're going to use music from an obscure Japanese game... use music that's also been in a Zelda title

Norfair
Battleclash - Title
Battleclash deserves some love. This song doesn't start particularly Metroidy, but it gets there, and would be another WTF moment.

Yoshi's Island

Yoshi's Island - Bowser
OK, OK, so it doesn't fit the happy stage at all. But then it's the Bowser battle. The Kirby stage has some jarring music too - but music that also brings back some gaming memories

Halberd

Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Big Forest
All my Kirby additions are from KDL2. I just like this song.

Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Rick's Theme
Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Coo's Theme
It would have been cool if all the animal friend themes were combined - but these two in particular are great.

Lylat Cruise

Solar Striker - Stage 1
Some days I just can't get this song out of my head. And being flying sci-fi yadda yadda, Lylat Cruise gets it

New Pork City

EarthBound - Saturn Valley
Come on! Mr. Saturn's there, Ness has a Mr. Saturn t-shirt... Why isn't the Saturn Valley music in the game?!

WarioWare, inc.

Super Mario RPG - And my Name's Booster
Booster and Wario have a lot in common, but even Booster's theme would fit Wario's stage well. Last SMRPG entry, I promise

Wario Land - Overworld (Wario's Theme)
OK, this has been said a couple of times before... but it's true. Why is all the music from WarioWare, when this song is Wario's theme!

Wario Land - Train
Best music in the Wario Land games. It's fast and it's fun, and would fit this stage.

Skyland

Kid Icarus OMaM - Underworld
Yes, this game deserved a nod, even if Japan never played it. Hell, if they're going to use stickers, why not chuck in a little nod to the Western-only release? And watch as the Japanese try importing the game

Distant Planet

Mole Mania - World 1
Mole Mania is one of my fave Game Boy games, so it should get some love! Bit tricky to pick a song from it that fits any stage, but Distant Planet seems like the place to put odd, calm music

Smashville

Animal Crossing - Happy New Year
I'm not particularly into the music in Animal Crossing (at least, pretty much all the music I love is in Brawl anyway). But this song is weird and it's a party! With a bit of a remix, this would be sooo cool!

PictoChat

Mario's Picross - Mario BGM 1
Picross... it's a blessing and a curse. This music is drilled into my skull due to my love for the game. I don't even like this music that much... but it's just so... catchy!

Flat Zone 2

Game & Watch Gallery - Title
Right... Game & Watch stage. We need music. Compose some songs made up of Game & Watch noises. OK, that's two... what else... chuck a Dr. Mario in there? NO! Game & Watch Gallery, you morons!!

And because the rest of the music in the Game & Watch Gallery series is fairly... eh... chuck in the best one from the original game. Yeah! Manhole!


Of course I could come up with more, but I just listed some of my missed favourites, with particular attention on games with no representation. Some might have been impossible (Super Mario RPG), while others were missed due to some evil scheme (Picross).

If you're wondering where I got these MP3s - I timed and burned them from the ripped soundtracks myself. Except where the timings were already kindly done.

I'm at least happy we got a piece of the Bowser battle music in the YI athletic remix. Or one version of it.

OH GOD, I wish we got the New Year's music. It's so magical. I hope it goes to City Folk, at least.

I'm not kidding - I have all of the Game & Watch Gallery games and I have all of the soundtrack rips. When listening through them I could only recognise the G&WG title theme, menu, Manhole and Fire, and G&WG2 Parachute. The rest of them were completely... eh...

So I'm not "forgetting" the games. But if they're not at least gonna TRY and have memorable music, then I'm not gonna stick em in SSB4

My fav would be Oil Panic in Gallery 1, butthen Oil Panic simply has to be my favourite G&W game. What else wil force you to pay attention to both screen and be so difficult? Nintendo DS has lost this art...

I agree with some of yours. Some I'd have considered to use in the existing stages are:

Battlefield

• Metal Mario (Super Smash Bros.). It was in a similar stage in the past.

Final Destination

• Master Hand. Same as the Metal Mario song; it's from the first game and it belongs to that psychodelic stage.

Mario Bros.

• Hammer Bros. Battle (Super Mario Bros. 3). This must be why it's the first tune in the Famicom Medley: not only is it from the Famicom era, but it actually played in this place, too (my reason would be the latter).
  
• Stage theme (Wrecking Crew). There are many similarities between Mario Bros. and other games of the 80s, and Wrecking Crew is among those games. The Power-Up Music is okay, but this fits in the stage, too.

Mushroomy Kingdom (Ground)

• Athletic (Super Mario Bros. 3). Super Mario Bros. 3 athletic stages are ancestors of more recent "automatic scrolling stages", of which Mushroomy Kingdom is one. Recently, it appeared in Super Mario Galaxy.

Mushroomy Kingdom (Underground)

• Underground Theme (Super Mario Bros. 2). I can't think of a better place to use this song in than underground Mario stages, no matter if they're from other Mario games. We will likely never get a stage focused specifically on Subcon underground stages, so why not?
  
• Hazy Maze Cave. This would blend the pair of songs that appear in different sections of Hazy Maze Cave (the main setting and Dorrie's cave) and Wet-Dry World (the main setting and the lost town) in Super Mario 64.

Delfino Plaza

• Marine Pop / Sky Pop theme. It sounds tropical enough.
  
• Beach Bowl Galaxy. Very fitting, I agree.

Luigi's Mansion

• Haunted House (Super Mario World). This was the first time the Mario brothers entered ghost-only stages. The only downside to Super Mario World stages is that many of them share the same base tune.
  
• Ghostly Galaxy. Too recent, but it sounds great for this anyway

Mario Circuit

• Faster than all! (Mario Party). Mario Party is another long-running Mario side game series, and this song is used for mini-games where you have to do things fast.

Bridge of Eldin

• Don't Want You No More (probably under another name). First heard in one official trailer for Twilight Princess, it also appears in the game after the title screen. It would need some arrangement.
  
• Hyrule Castle. A recurring song in Zelda games, and this stage is near Hyrule Castle.

Pirate Ship

• Pirate Ship (The Wind Waker). This sounds when you're sailing in the ship of Tetra and the pirates.
  
• Ocean King's Sea. Probably too recent, but it also belongs in here.
  
• Sea of No Return. Even though it's from a place you walk by on foot, it sounds like a pirate song, too.
  
• Cloud Tops. A very fantastic tune that would sound great in a Toon Link's stage. The song is an extension of The Minish Cap's title theme.

Pokémon Stadium II

• Pokémon Main Theme (Ruby/Sapphire). It sounds even better in the menu screens of Pokémon Colosseum. It's an exciting version of the song IMO.
  
• Elite Four Battle (Ruby/Sapphire). Not boring at all, as good as the G/S Battle Theme in the former Pokémon Stadium stage.
  
• Champion (Ruby/Sapphire). Yet another option for an exciting Pokémon battle theme like those that should take place on a stadium.
  
• Duel (Pokémon TCG). To vary things a little, a song from a game with another type of Pokémon battles, but it needs to sound less monotone.

Pokémon Stadium

• Champion (Red/Blue). This addition would be fair in this classic stage.

Spear Pillar

• Mt. Pyre. This also comes from a legendary mountain, of Hoenn in this case.
  
• (Lake Trio song). This one appears when you encounter Uxie, Mesprit or Azelf.
  
• Boss Theme (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon). Good for encounters with legendary Pokémon.

Port Town Aero Dive or Big Blue:

• Red Canyon

Yoshi's Island

• Map (Yoshi's Island). It would have one extra instrument each time it loops and maybe some added percussion. Here's an example.
  
• Score / Bonus Level (Yoshi's Island). These songs inspire happiness, and Yoshi's worlds are full of happiness.
  
• Money level (Yoshi Topsy-Turvy). This song is very unique and crazy and also combines well with Yoshi stages.

Rumble Falls

• Cascade Capers. This comes from stages with waterfalls you have to climb.
  
• Rockface Rumble. Also from vertical stages, though it would be dumb to include this one and not Cascade Capers.
  
• DK Isles (Donkey Kong 64). This one is good for stages that are big and aren't necessarily jungles.

75m

• 100m BGM. This is the other stage song from Donkey Kong.
  
• Dock (Popeye). Popeye isn't a property of Nintendo, but this could be included at the end of the song list for a Donkey Kong arcade stage, Popeye arcade being sort of a sibling of Donkey Kong arcade.

Onett

• Onett. This is the song for Onett, the town of Ness.

PictoChat

• Mario Paint BGM. You can draw stuff on PictoChat, but also on Mario Paint.
  
• Mario's Picross BGM 1. A good song from another Touch Generations-like game. It also appears in the special downloadable packs for Picross DS.

Yoshi's Island (Super Mario World)

• Overworld theme from Super Mario World. Complete with Yoshi bongos if you wish.

Temple

• Battle (Zelda II). This screams Zelda II as much as the other two songs that are in Brawl.

Rainbow Cruise

• Rainbow Ride [original]

WarioWare

• Survival Fever. This appears in Jimmy T.'s game mode in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!, which is a game with multiplayer microgame action much like Brawl's WarioWare stage.

Actually, on that note, I think the stage theme from Gyromite and any Wrecking Crew music would work well on the 75m stage, what with the dependence on girders

This is a remix of the Title Screen and the Bonus Stages.

This is a remix of the song heard before an entire ball game starts and one of the two songs heard during real ball games.

Wrecking Crew

This is a remix of the main theme and some jingles, including the Stage Clear theme.

The real main theme of Gyromite

This is heard during the main gameplay of Game A and B.

Golf (Game Boy version) (I like it like this better.)

This is a remix of the Title Screen and the Results Screen.

Solar Striker

This is a remix of Stage 1 / Stage 2 and Stage 5.

Come to think of it, It would have been Really neat if there were certain songs that caused the level to do things it would have otherwise not have done. Like that bowser music causing the Yoshi level to be played during a thunderstorm or something. food for thought.

I was thinking about this last night and came up with the following suggestions:

Norfair - Magmoor Caverns from Prime, because, to me at least, that is the definitive Metroid 'lava room' music (given that I've never played any of the Metroid game before Prime).

75m - Either the Fear Factory music (DKC) or Frantic Factory (DK64), just due to the factory connection (I know that 75m is a DK arcade stage, but since it got a jazzed up version of the DKC opening theme...)

Oh, and I'd put the original DK rap on the Kongo Jungle stage, because the Melee one sounds terrible - especially Tiny's and Lanky's verses. [/DK fanboyism]
