Compared to the hype trains that are Mad World and Bayonetta, Platinum Games' DS title Infinite Space has been fairly overshadowed. The game was revealed at TGS and looks to be one of the more ambitious DS games yet. Combining the feel of space opera anime like Star Blazers with the techincal aspects of PC space simulators, Infinite Space sets out to create a console experience for handhelds. We'll just have to see if Platinum can pull it off. You can get 1UP's preview of the game by clicking here.Fun sidenote - Platinum has recruited a game developer known for erotic dating games to help out on this title's storyline and character development. I don't expect they're be hentai situations in this, but one can hope that the dating sim experience will pay off in terms of getting involved with the characters.

I wonder if this is anything like Wing Commander. I was a huge fan of that series.
I remember there was a little bit of controversy over a similar "dating sim" aspect of Wing Commander III. The main character, Christopher Blair (played by Mark Hamill), could end up getting involved with one of two different women. Some female players didn't like that aspect, but to be honest, there really wasn't much to it.

SEGA has started dubbing the short IS anime clips. (There were fansubs previously done).
Dubbing seems to be quite good and the game is coming out spring 2010.

It's strange - the pedigree behind this title, plus the fact it's a RPG, ought to be enough to interest me, yet I've had a hard time remembering this game. XD Hopefully it turns out well.
