I heard on various forums (IGN, Starmen), that someone acquired some dev disks for Mother 3! I couldn't find the Starmen page, but here is the IGN link... boards.ign.com/Earthbound/b5345/99864186/?1Gamegamer, the poster summarized and gave these facts... Now, to get everyone's facts straight about the entire situation: "No, the disks are not in Starmen.Net's hands, nor does Starmen.Net have anything to do with them - they belong to coreycorey2000 It may take a year or longer before we find out if/what data is on those disks There is NO proof yet of any of the following things: That the disks have any data on them at all That the disks are related in any way to Mother 3 That the data on the disks, if it is related to Mother 3, will produce ANYTHING of value (in other words, even if the disks are related to Mother 3, there may be literally nothing useful on them except a bunch of ancient code) The the disks are accessible, although it is a very difficult task to read information from them - the necessary equipment is extremely rare, extremely expensive, and extremely collectible If money needs to be raised we're willing to help, but it doesn't seem as if that will be necessary. corey has a lot of that stuff taken care of. " The worst that can happen is finding damaged ancient code for some anonymous DD game. The best thing? Playing EarthBound 64 on emulators. What do you think?

Yeah, Starmen.net has a full breakdown of the disk history, plus a forum that you can access once you have registered there, detailing the history of it all.
First off, I don't doubt that these are real dev disks for the 64DD, probably with unfinished game code on them.
However, nobody knows what is on them yet. Nobody knows how to access the data on the disks, and the only reason anybody thinks that they contain Mother 3 is because "M3" has been written on the disk in permanent ink. This could refer to anything, really. A lot of games started development on the 64DD and promptly moved to disk.
