Sorry, for the thread topic, I did not know what else to say to describe it. Most of these cameos are people that made the game or were based off pets of the developers.
I also threw in some trivia for these games as well, I thought it might be good the NinDB as well.
Goldeneye 007
- The fictional character Dr Doak and secret mulitplayer character Dave is named after and bears likeness to (former Rare staff member) David Doak.
- Some of the guards faces in the game are based off staff members from Rareware.
- Several references to James Bond films exist in GoldenEye 007, the most apparent being the titles of the various multiplayer modes and the Bond Girl names for the game's control schemes. The CCTV tape found in the second Bunker mission features the cover of the VHS release of the GoldenEye film. (sorry if this doesn't count as a cameo)
Trivia
- Multiple objectives across the same stages was inspired by the mutiple tasks of each stage in Super Mario 64.
Perfect Dark
- In Perfect Dark, enemy soldiers' faces are mapped from the game staff and from Nintendo employees (like Goldeneye). Shigeru Miyamoto's face is seen on the patrolling guard in the opening movie for the Pelagic II stage.
Trivia
Despite popular belief, Joanna's hair color was never meant to be brown but, always red. This can be seen in renders done by Rare, (Link, ). The developers claimed that it was due to the limitations of the Nintendo 64.
Also many references to Goldeneye exist in the game, such a some of the multiplayer stages being from Goldeneye, unlockable weapons from Goldeneye, a BAFTA award won by Rare because of Goldeneye can be found in a safe in the game.
GB Camera support was going to be in the game that would allow you to take a photo of someones face and use it on playable characters in mutliplayer but was never implemented into the final game. (for more info on that subject see the bottom of the multiplayer article on Wikipedia).
Various Skip devloped games (Giftpia, Chibi Robo and even Captain Rainbow).
The dog Tao, that appears in Giftpia, Chibi Robo and Captain Rainbow is actually based off a pet owned by Kenichi Nishi who works for Skip (and also another studio named Vanpool).
Here's a picture of the dog in real life and video of the Tao gallery that Jaken posted from CR of Tao.
Tao's name is also a reference to the Ying-Yang from Taoism because he has a black side and white side to his face. (source).
I think that's all the stuff I can think of for now.
