Japan fucking loves their Monster Hunter.
America however isn't so generous, and I can see why. Monster Huner...just isn't for me.

Heh, very good news. (Granted, i'm much more interested in the CCPro than this game, but still. )

Monster Hunter mania is getting underway. Capcom has announced that the game will launch on April 20. As Da Robot already posted, the game will come bundled with a Classic Controller Pro and retail for US$59.99. There will also be a standalone package for $49.99. Online play will be free. It will also support voice chat via Wii Speak, but also text chat for those without the peripheral. The official site now has content, including a funny FMV(!) intro! There is also a new community website. Oh, and the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel.

Christian Svensson talks about Monster Hunter Tri and its prospects for selling well on the Wii (in North America) in this interview at Gamasutra. It still seems like it still might be a tough sell to the Wii market at large.
[Christian Svensson]: It's not something that's limiting in any way. It's a game form that should be perfectly approachable and perfectly acceptable by Western audiences, and by Wii owners specifically. It is a core game, and core games on Wii have had some challenges, but we also know we have a built-in Monster Hunter fan base that is small-ish, but they're going to push several hundred thousand units before we even touch anybody outside that.
So, we've got high hopes for this. We really want to capture a more active Wii demographic. And the Wii is still -- in homes that own multiple consoles, the Wii is always there. There's no reason why these people shouldn't and couldn't be picking up Monster Hunter Tri to play. I think Svensson knows better than to expect to sell "several hundred thousand units" of a core game on the Wii, but I like his optimism. I have to admit, when I found out that the online would be free, I became a lot more interested, myself.

This game is a must buy for me. The trailers did their work, they got me, and 2 other friends and a cousin hyped up for this game. Free Online made us start getting money from anywhere to be able to buy this game ASAP.
I just hope Wii owners buy this game, as , for example, The Conduit and ExciteBots are awesome games, but it's surprising (and sad) on how bad their sales are. Here's an example: you join an online match, and every now and then you find a guy you've already played against online.

Heh. I do love that barbarian guy!
I thought I read somewhere that beating some of the monsters can take up to 40 minutes! I realize that's nowhere near the 48+ hours that some people may spend on MMORPG's, but still, I'm not sure I want to spend that long pounding away at one monster.

EDIT: Forgot to add article link before, fixed now. Heh. I do love that barbarian guy! I thought I read somewhere that beating some of the monsters can take up to 40 minutes! I realize that's nowhere near the 48+ hours that some people may spend on MMORPG's, but still, I'm not sure I want to spend that long pounding away at one monster. 40 minutes is a long time compared other video game enemies/bosses, hopefully it only applies to very few monsters/last monster in the game. Don't want to have spend 40 minutes trying to kill the first monster I come across. Also here's a nice preview of the MH3 demo. The Wiimote/Nunchuck control sounds good. "With the Classic Controller Pro bundle on the way, I figured the Wii Remote and Nunchuck scheme would be a joke, sacrificing precise attack timing for waggle. I was incredible wrong. Rather than making you swing to attack, Monster Hunter Tri uses the No More Heroes approach, and actually improves upon it.
The “A” button (and in certain cases, the “-” button for alternate abilities) is used to attack. But it’s much more complex than that. The orientation of your Wii Remote will determine which attack is done. Holding it normally, twisting it to the right, to the left, or even holding it upright can can result in completely different attacks and combos."

Did I mention that I love the Monster Hunter guy? ;D These ads just get more and more awesome every time. If I do end up buying this game, I will attribute these videos as the sole reason.

I did order up a demo through Capcom's MHTri website, and it might be in my PO Box, so if I can make it over there, I'll post up impressions.

^ I wanted to get that, but they ran out before I had a chance to order. And I don't want to bother with GameStop. There are widespread reports that many stores won't give away the demo unless you pre-order, even tho it's supposed to be completely free. But even then, I'd rather not patronize them.
I'd like to hear your impressions of the demo if you get the chance.

Sure. I wouldn't want to bother with Gamestop, either. They're also charging $5.00 for the demo in some stores. XD
