I don't have all that much info at the moment, but this is one of the main villains in M&L3: Obviously a Mother 3 cameo.

Eh, do all pig-based enemies have to be a Mother cameo?

It carries a flag with the emblem of the Pig Mask Army. That's the reason I'm listing it.

Eh, do all pig snout emblems have to be a Mother cameo?
Seriously, man.

The horns are part of his Bowser look, but when you combine that with his emblem and bulkiness, he kinda has an air of a Pork Trooper.
That fang makes the character more like a boar, though.

I think its a coincidence. Usually cameos would be obvious (the developer wants you to know its a cameo) yet subtle (its not really out in the open).

I immediately thought of a Pigmask when I saw that first picture. I'd say it's a reference, but hey what do I know.

(I guess the original poster is right, so I'll stick my reply here. If I'm not supposed to be, please tell me so that I can move the topic or please help me move this post altogether. When I was looking after the info about the Fawful-like thing on Wikipedia (which I got), I found something interesting. Since I can't speak Japanese, I'm going to cite the wiki directly: A mysterious plague is taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. The only symptom that this disease results in is the inflating of the Toads many times their normal size, causing them to grow big and roll around without any control; the disease is known as the "Metaknight"."I didn't find anything on Wiktionary, so I'm pretty sure that this is a reference to the Kirby series character "Meta Knight" and his "Meta-Knights". EDIT: Just saw that there already was a thread for M&LRPG3 cameos which I missed. Too bad this proxy sucks so much that it can't delete threades, so you gotta lock it. Once again proves Wikipedia to be untrustable. www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/cljj/mario_luigi/index.htmlIt's called the "Metakoro disease" and has nothing to do with Metaknight. Knowing two kana characters doesn't mean whoever edited that Wiki entry can spread false information like that!

I think this is a viable cameo. It's not like pig-snout-icons are all over the place; it is the symbol for Porky's Pig Masks, so the possibilities of it being just a cameo seem pretty flimsy.

It's a actually a cultural reference. Metabo is short for "metabolic syndrome," which is the latest concern/fad in Japan. Essentially, it refers to being fat and the associated health effects. Japan has even passed a law that says if your waistline is over a certain size, your employer or city is fined. Koro koro is onomatopoeia for rolling (e.g. Kirby's Tilt and Tumble was called Koro Koro Kirby in Japan, and there's Kororinpa, the marble rolling game). In M&L3, the Mushroom Kingdom citizens are afflicted with a disease that makes them swell into a ball and roll around; thus the disease, "Metakoro."

In the new Nintendo Power, the localization team snuck in a Pro Wrestling reference in a scene where Bowser throws a big enough fit.
"A WINNER IS YOU!" indeed.

Nintendo loves throwing in that quote, don't they? If memory serves right, it was in Diamon/Pearl too.
