I am considering giving "A Winner Is You!" its own page, like the Totaka's Song guide and Dolphin references. It's more of a Nintendo meme these days than a Pro Wrestling cameo (but it will, of course, be linked to-and-from the PW page).

It's a actually a cultural reference. Metabo is short for "metabolic syndrome," which is the latest concern/fad in Japan. Essentially, it refers to being fat and the associated health effects. Japan has even passed a law that says if your waistline is over a certain size, your employer or city is fined. You mean they'd fine someone for being fat?! Insane country...

Sounds like a good idea to me. Overweight people (from here referred to as "fatties") are a major drain on healthcare resources, so issuing fines for being a fatty is a good way to offset those costs.
Also, there are way too many fatties these days. Seriously, they make it difficult to see attractive people in bars. I think it's the way light bends around them.
;D

Here's another cameo/parody of Wii Fit/Balance Board in the game.

Um...
I just noticed that the cameo I sent in the OP is bunk. It's a photoshop. =/
Midbus does appear to have the logo tattooed on his arm though.

I'm not sure whether these count under the new rules, or if they're already common knowledge, but I noticed two cool little throwbacks to old games in the Fawful Theater.
There's a brainwashed Goomba in the lobby trying to remember who the castle used to belong to. He goes through a bunch of names rhyming with Bowser, one of which is Mouser.
When you actually go into the theater itself, there are rows of seats full of Goombas, Boos, Koopas and Dry Bones. Waaay off in the bottom-right corner of the room is a lone Shroob. This is the only member of the seated audience you can interact with, but it only says ".......".

That's not the only time you see a Shroob...

It's the only time I've seen one. But I only got the game a few days ago.

That was supposed to be read as a teaser, not a correction. But you'll love it when you see them next.

(Yeah, my 3000th post looks so ordinary.)
I don't recall the Shroob.... Rather, I see rows of regular enemies, with some of them you can talk to.
.....So that means I missed it. Drat.

I got to that part of the game just after this was posted, so I can confirm both parts of this theater cameo. Loving the game so far

Toad Towns song seems to have some peaces from SMRPG's "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms"
I think Square owns that song.

as you can see, it is not the pig mask emblem, as cool as that would be.
