It matters because it makes you look a fool to jump in people's crap after 6 months with a pack of unnecessary crap. If there is relevence, and I mean REAL relevence, to the post, slack may be cut for necroposting like that (for example, if someone suddenly found out what the project was) but just spouting out a pile of garbage about how apparently unintelligent something seems is asking for trouble. Leave it alone, it's not worth fighting over.

No, spam in forums is when users (usually bots) post advertisements (usually of pornography) in irrelevant forums. The word "Spam" in reference to posting ads has evolved since Wikipedia wrote that article back when the site first came out in, what, the late '90s? The Internet and its vocabulary evolves faster than that. If you're a month late you might as well be hunting mammoth. The evolution of the word "Spam" operated like this. If you go around positing that dusty old definition, it's like going to Best Buy looking for an 8-track. You're too late, get a CD. |
