So its been announced that Final Fantasy 4 is getting a sequel, and that it will be for the Wii, perhaps on Wiiware!
I have yet to play FF4. Is it good? And do you think it deserves/needs a sequel?

My first thought: Holy balls, thats awesome! My second thought: It's already had one though: finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV_the_After:_Tsuki_no_KikanOn cell phones, oddly enough. And sure enough, it looks like this will be a port of that. Guess that's why they are considering WiiWare. As for the quality: Yes. It's a bit sparse by today's post FFVI and VII standards, but it is still one of the best final Fantasies. It's story, while kinda bare, is great and the characters memorable. It seems to be one of the first RPGs with characters you actually connect to. The battle system is pretty good. The game is pleasently diffucult at times, while not being as cheap as the Japanese version. I haven't played the recent DS version though.

The story isn't so much bare as it was cut to ridiculous proportions (75% was cut) and thus a lot of things were edited to make it feel whole. But with that, we don't get long boring explanations for things.
The sequel is The After, from last year on mobile phones. It's a bit silly in plot, but the graphics are beautiful and characters look great to play as. To FFIV fans, one playable character is the Dwarf Princess Lucca. Is it a nod to Chrono Trigger that she's a mechanic like Cid now? Hm.
FFIV is with FFIX as my favorite game of all time. Cecil's my second favorite VG character of all, and this game got me into the Final Fantasy series. I will be buying the sequel on day one, despite the probability Square-Enix will make us pay double.
But to Rupee, I recommend FFIV with all my heart. The DS version and the GBA version are both excellent, but have their own respective ups and downs.
