Having just played and beat this game as of late once again, I was in a mood to divert some attention to it.
Even though the game overall felt way too tacked on and rushed in most places, I enjoyed the game thoroughly myself regardless. May be just me, but it certainly has a certain...charm to it to keep on going with it.
One retarded thing that did piss me off however was getting a shit-ton of coins, but with very few uses.
I also really liked the enemy designs this time around. All these fellows, the Jewel Goons. If ever, I'd like to see these guys return another time.
Anyone else so happened to enjoy this game?

I enjoyed it enough to want a sequel, preferably one that takes everything Wario Land was known for and put it in 3D.
You know, treasure hunting and large-scale puzzle solving rather than brawling with minor platforming challenges.
I actually once cooked up a few ideas for this sequel. One of them involved Wario getting sucked into a giant mural he just bought, and then having to reclaim all the pieces of the mural in order to escape. The game was supposed to be roughly the size of Donkey Kong 64 in terms of scale and longetivity. Sound decent enough?

Wario World 2? Too bad this didn't sell enough to warrant that. But a sequel to this really should happen either way. Maybe co-op between Wario and Waluigi (come on, you lazy...).
I'd like for the coins to be used to buy certain items and what-not.
How do you think the enemies should be next time? Syrup's pirates or these Jewel's goons again?

I had a bunch of new enemies in mind. The game I made up was also supposed to utilize all of Wario's transformations plus a few new ones.

The really neat thing about Wario World that struck me when I was replaying it a year ago is that, even though it's technically pretty short with only eight stages, those stages are huge, and you will be going through them over and over in order to find everything. It gives it a lot more playtime than is usually credited to it, especially if you don't know where everything is (or had forgotten, like me).

I'd like for the coins to be used to buy certain items and what-not. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? Sure, I haven't played every game in the series, but... I've never played a Wario game which really let you spend coins on anything other than... trying to get more coins. Correct me if I'm wrong, though. I just thought that... the whole point of the Wario series was to make Wario rich. He wants the money just so he can have the money, right? If you're spending all the coins you're collecting, that ain't gonna happen.

Let's see about the coins here:
-In Wario Land 1, you can either gamble your coins in a double or nothing mini-game, or spend them on a different mini-game that allows you to win extra lives. Then at the very end, all the treasures are cashed in for more coins, and your coin total is used to buy Wario's dream house.
-Then in Wario Land 2, you spend coins on a memory game hidden in each stage which allows you to win a treasure. Getting all the treasures unlocks the Flagman mini-game. Also, at the end of each stage, you're given the chance to play a guessing game where spending coins gives you hints. Winning it earns you a piece of the map to the hidden time trial stage.
-The main goal of Wario Land 3 was finding treasure. You need half the treasures in order to beat the game. Some of them unlock stuff. The coins on the other hand were used to pay for the Golf mini-game, which you need to beat in order to unlock certain pathways.
-Wario Land 4 treats coins as a scorebar. You can pay coins in your total to play min-hames, sorta like in WL3. If you do well in the mini-games, you earn medals. The medals are then used to buy a weapon from a shop which makes beating the boss quicker and easier. This is because the faster you beat the boss, the more treasure chests you get by the end of the game.
So yeah, Wario spending is coins on something is perfectly fine so long as it contributes to whatever goal the game lays out.

And you use coins in World to buy garlic.

Oh, and that too. Thanks for that. You know, using coins to buy health back is almost like an evolution of collecting 100 coins for a free life. Super Princess Peach and Super Mario Land 2 did a similar spin on it. OK, tangents over.

Wario World is an awesome game. I like it way more than Sunshine (dodges Fry's wrath ). I felt it captured the action platformer in 3D extremely well, and offered up enough gameplay to keep things fresh enough throughout the whole experience. It's short, but if it were much longer I think it would have become tedious.

I thought that the game was a bit too on the easy side. In fact, I blasted though it in one weekend.
The only bits that really stand out are the circus level in world 2 and the bosses (especially the weirder ones).

OK, tangents over. Thanks for your wisdom once again, Mr. Walking Encyclopedia. It's short, but if it were much longer I think it would have become tedious. True, it's a fine game as is, but if the signs of rushedness are that apparent in the game, then that's kind of a different story...

Personally, I don't really think it felt rushed. But that may just be me. *shrugs* I might need to replay it to properly say that, though - it's been like 6 - 7 years since I played it back when it came out. XD

I liked the game, got almost everything in it (still it felt rushed, the menus seemed like they didnt give them much tought) any game made by Treasure with tons of bosses its good in my book (but it could had been harder, I think I just died once in the whole game and its continue system made death non treathening)

I love Wario World. It's too bad this game is so overlooked, I was really looking forward to a sequel. The enemies and bosses in WW, in a way, remind me of my own creations.
