No no no! Many of the early fliers for FC/NES or VS. games were commissioned by artists outside of Nintendo. That Ice Climbers flier isn't technically "official art".
The only existing official art of Ice Climbers is what appears on the box.

And seriously... Marth should be pantless!

Link's was way shorter than Marth's in A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. He was practically half-naked you could see his butt.

The only existing official art of Ice Climbers is what appears on the box. Well, it's the earliest artwork showing both of them together, but how did you know it wasn't drawn by Nintendo? The Famicom version was released the same year, but only showed one, which appears to be Nana. Perhaps there are more artworks in the Japanese manual.

You can tell that flier wasn't drawn by Nintendo because it looks nothing like the artwork from the manual, plus pretty much all the arcade fliers were done by outside artists at the time as Fry already mentioned. I'm pretty sure the Ice Climber on the NES box is actually supposed to be Popo with a red parka and blonde hair. Things were weird like that.
And that Mvs.DK2 image just reminded of how ugly the modern DK looks with realistic teeth. He'd look better with just one row.

This forum avatar, is it from a Donkey Kong artwork, or from Saturday Supercade?

God, I want to punch the new Captain Falcon design in the face.
Pretty sure that Mario is from Arcade artwork, from what I've seen of the Supercade artstyle he doesn't have that red nose and squinty eyes.

Somebody also needs to post those old photos of the Star Fox crew that appeared in manuals and flyers. They were so hilarious.

Just because they don't look like they were drawn by Nintendo doesn't mean they weren't drawn by them. You're probably thinking it's the U.S. arcade flyer, but NO, it's the Japanese arcade flyer, which I found it here, along with the Excitebike arcade flyer, which the art was used for the front cover of the Famicom version of Excitebike. This forum avatar, is it from a Donkey Kong artwork, or from Saturday Supercade? That's from the US arcade flyer, look at the Japanese arcade flyer. Here are the Star Fox Team's oldest looks:

The original Starfox artwork its the best, none of the subsecuent games has been able to match it. There are someother interesting changes incharacters Link and Kirby do have significant variations trough the years (Link more than Kirby)

No, just a normal punch. And then shoot him with a normal gun, like the one he has in his holster.
