Well the DSi is out in the US and there's quite a few features the built in software has that are easter eggs/cameos.
Music player: One that has been known for a while is the Excitebike and SMB visualisers (press shoulder button to make Mario jump).
SMB tune sound recorder song.
If you for 45 seconds on the sound recorder screen, the DSi will use the most recently recoreded sound and play the SMB theme song to it.

When you download games from DSi Ware, Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad (sprites all from Super Mario Advance) run in and throw blue balls into a box. When the box is full, it turns over and wraps itself. It's significantly less annoying than the coin-collecting Mario when you download things from the Wii Shopping Channel.  |

Oh yeah, I remember watching a video of that in action. Also good to see that someone else finds the Wii Shop Channel downloading process to be annoying, thank goodness for the TV mute button. |
