Jesus, GB, I'd been wondering what that meant since you brought it up. Out of curiosity, Koopaul, how do you know GB? There both posters at The Spriter's Resource forum.

Ape MarioApe Mario is super strong - as strong as a maniac gorilla! Hold down on the control pad and press the run button to do a hand slap. You can use this ability to hit switches and uncover hidden items from the ground. Press the run button while you're on the ground, and you'll perform a swift roll to knock out your foes (note: some foes cannot be defeated by this technique). Jump toward a wall, and you'll slide even slower than as Mario or Super Mario.

Hmm... Ah-ha!
Ball Mario
In Pinball Land Mario had this form before, now its back! Eat the Candy Ball to turn into this.
Powers- He's extra bouncy and can jump extra high. He moves slightly faster too. On top of that, he can float on the surface of water and toxic water that would normally kill Mario.
The negative side is that he has poor traction and has difficulties rolling up hills. And he can't pick up shells or other objects. He'll turn back into regular Mario if he enters an underwater stage or hops on Yoshi.
Space Suit Mario
Mario looks like an astronaut! Grab the Space Helmet for this.
Powers- Mario is extra light, not only does his jump increase but he falls a lot slower like there's low gravity. Mario can shoot a short laser similar to the Fire Ball but goes straight and doesn't go as far. This also allows Mario to breath in toxic areas that would eventually kill him.
The negative side is that he moves slightly slower.
Bowser Suit Mario
Yes the one from the Mario Party series returns! Grab the Bowser Mushroom and get burly!
Powers one of the most deadly power-ups, Mario becomes fairly larger, he is able to break any type of block including empty Item Blocks!
Goombas and Koopas will run away and even run off an edge. You and perform a POW Pound that will flip all ground enemies on the screen upside down. By pressing down Mario can hide inside his shell and become invincible.
On the down side Mario will moves slightly slower and jump a little lower too. He'll sink fast in water too, so you'll have to swim harder.

Boomerang Mario (That's just a really good picture edit I did off of old art). Throw's a boomerang similar to the ones the Boomerang Bro throws. 1st idea: Mario throws the boomerang and it can kill up to 3 enemies in front of him/after it gets to the other side of the screen it will turn around and return and Mario must avoid it to prevent getting hurt (he never learnt how to catch them) 2nd idea: Mario throws the boomerang and it can kill up to 3 enemies in front of him/after it gets to the other side of the screen it will turn around and return and Mario must catch it (as in get in the way of it returing) otherwise there will be some downtime (like 5-6 seconds) before Mario can throw another one. One may admit that it's just based off an old enemy but another two suits are (Hammer from SMB3, Boo from SMG) and even the Propeller suit from NSMB Wii is just based off that spinning platform from the first NSMB.

The Mario to end all Marios. The only thing that can cover his secret identity when moving outside of his bathtub is a white towel. It's long enough to censor his body while he can whip his towel (like how someone did it in the "Scary Movie" series) to reflect projectiles or attack enemies that are adjacent, just like his Cape Feather power-up. When he runs, he slides on a bar of soap. If he was in SSB4, then his Final Smash would be like this.

Incidentally, Mario had a Boomerang power-up that was only available via SMA4's e-reader mode.

MagiMario
Item that give the power up(whatever GB likes): - A Magic Hat (like the ones Magikoopas use) - A Magic Wand (like the one Magikoopas use, I personally like this one best)
The way it works: Mario dons a wizard's hat and robes, and Becomes MagiMario.
The Main form of attack consists in using the Magic Wand. Pressing the attack button makes Mario shoot out the typical Magic attack in the Mario games (Square, Circle and Triangle) forward. The attack will disappear when it crashes into another object, and it only damages enemies, it will not break blocks or transform them into other things. Holding the attack button allows a cursor to appear and it will move up and down and letting go of the button make Mario shoot a magic attack in that direction (similar to the Yoshi's Egg toss in the Yoshi games, take note that the attack won't become more powerful, just you throw it where you want to).
The Magic attack itself is like a Fire Ball, but it goes straight, and it can also activate special switches that open new areas (Ok, I know this game is quite advanced in the makings, but it's an idea for a future game).
Another ability is that you can levitate by holding the jump button at the jump's peak, similar to Peach's SBM2 Glide. Take note that you cannot attack during the levitation.
As Mario becomes a book worm, he become weaker, so he looses the ability to Ground Pound and becomes slightly slower when running. His jumps stay the same though, as he'll use his Magic to keep on jumping high. He can still shoot an attack directly downwards if the player, while in mid-air, holds down and presses the attack button. This will also stop him in mid air.
As I look at the other ideas, the Ape Mario is awesome and hilarious, and the Space Suit Mario is also a great idea.

Go with the Mouser and Panda Suits from that Mario 3 hack, Super Mario Adventure. Those rocked. Mouser Mario could throw Bob-ombs and do a special spin jump that killed spiked foes; Panda Mario could run up walls and ceilings as well as do the special spin jump.
From my own brain, Fox and Ram: Fox Suit lets you run twice as fast, throw your coins as a projectile; Ram Suit lets you barrel through enemies by dashing and gives you a tougher buttstomp

Incidentally, Mario had a Boomerang power-up that was only available via SMA4's e-reader mode. After just going to SM Wiki to find out, it appears that it appears at the end of one e-Reader level (worldwide) and there is a power-up card for it only in Japan. So it's very, very obscure.

Here's two of my own:
Eco Mario
Use it only if you have both the Fire Flower and Ice Flower in the game. This one allows Mario to shoot leaves at enemies. The leaves sail ahead in a straight line and an enable Mario to slice ropes and stuff. This was initially conceived as a projectile weapon for Raccoon Mario, but I doubt you'd integrate it that way. Instead of a full suit Mario has a leaf sticking out of his hat.
Podoboo Mario
I couldn't think of a better name, but I saw a power-up just like this one in a fangame engine once. It's an alternative to the Fire Flower. The regular Fire Suit would be obtained via the classic round Fire Flower while this power-up would be received from the later tulip-shaped Fire Flower. It enables Mario to shoot whole Podoboos straight across the screen (sorta like the fireballs Yoshi spits out). Instead of a red and white suit, Mario wears a feather in his hat like he does in Super Mario Land 2.
