Most people I encountered like Tekken better, because of how "badass" or superior it is compared to Virtua Fighter, but without Virtua Fighter, there would be no Tekken. Virtua Fighter has characters that use "real-life martial arts", while Tekken is like replacing Virtua Fighter characters with Street Fighter characters in the Virtua Fighter world; making it a game starring characters with supernatural powers in a 3D fighting game. It's like saying the Sonic series is way better than the Mario series, because it's fast-paced and stars an anthropomorphic animal with attitude, but the Mario series was the one who started the "platforming games with hidden secrets" thing, while it teamed up with the NES and R.O.B. to save video game business in the U.S.. It's also like saying Mortal Kombat is more fun than Street Fighter II, because of the blood, gore and "fight to the death" things, but some people like Street Fighter II better, because it started the modern-fighting game craze. "Virtua Fighter VS. Tekken" arguments aren't spoken as much as the arguments about "Mario VS. Sonic" and "Street Fighter VS. Mortal Kombat". AVGN only made fun of the 32X version, because he thought it was sluggish, but 1UP.com believes Virtua Fighter deserves more credit than Tekken, because of these reasons, and I agree with 1UP.com.

Well, this is kind of a random topic.
I don't really have an opinion, because I don't play either Tekken or Virtua Fighter. However, Virtua Fighter was created by the great Yu Suzuki, and I believe that Shenmue was originally conceived as a Virtua Fighter RPG. So, without Virtua Fighter, there would be no Shenmue.

Tekken is better because you can play as a bear or a boxing dinosaur.
Tekken 3's the best because you can play as a half paralyzed geezer who moves by rolling over the floor and attacks by farting.

Which is what you already said in the first post. Technically, you can't be talking about Virtua Fighter 1 because it was a 2D fighting game, but, yeah. I do have to say Tekken is a lot more interesting and fun.

I really don't like the way Tekken controls. The combat feels way too clunky to me, so I don't get a lot of joy out of it. I do like Virtua Fighter a lot, but I don't own any of the various discs, so I'm going off of my arcade memories.
