Why don't you just blow into it?
....Will try when I have the chance. Nice suggestion.
I'm afraid of getting even more dust into the disc slot, which is why I didn't try. The soft plastic cover of the slot looks dusty too.
NOT EDIT - I tried. To no avail.
I don't know how to get air past the soft plastic cover (cover too soft to use external help to oven it up), plus the (utterly useless) manual indicates that I contact Nintendo for such problem.
...Which means I will have to take my console to repair.
Please anwer the following question(s) for me - if you know anything behind the closed doors of Nintendo, that is.
[1] What will they do?
➟ <a> Repair my system (end)
➟ <b> Replace my system (go to 2)
[2] Oh noes! My save files! What to do?
➟ <a> Homebrew Channel (go to 3)
➟ <b> Weep (end)
[3] But my warranty! I'll RUIN some intangible thing I don't even know what that is!
➟ <a> Heck with it, continue hacking and pretend Nintendo never knows (go to 4)
➟ <b> Go for some unauthorized repair stores (end)
➟ <c> Considering its importance, just let your saves die (end)
[4] But I'm using Wii Menu 4.0?
➟ <a> Wait until hackers solve it and the warranty expires (end)
➟ <b> Any brilliant answer (please specify)
...You're so very, very kind, Nintendo.
BUMP AGAINThe most damned thing of the history of everything occured:
I lost the receipt of my console.
...No words can describe my current feeling.
I recall buying my Wii somewhere in late May. Only days left before my lovely warranty expires.
SECOND-TO-LAST BUMPI had to take it to some shop for repair, ater all. Goodbye, warranty.
I was given an option to replace my lens with an "official" one or a "third party" one. You probably know of my choice already.
I will go off and collect it now. For the first time in my life, I had to go to that computer shopping acrade in 3 consecutive days.
The whole thing costed me 500 HKD, or 64.5 USD, 42.5 GBP, 84.3 AUD, 47.27 EUR or 74.71 CAD. In my hometown, that covers approximately the price of 2 games. Talk about bad luck.
FINAL BUMPTASY!I took my Wii back. Discs can now be read properly, and it appears to be less laggier too.
I tested it with a certain frequent-loading gmae, Fire Emblem 10. It tends to have rapid access to the disc because it loads character avators "on the fly" rather than preload them. It does affect playing time a little, and is thus a bad interface design. And this also means people with a non-optimized Wii are adversed is speed runs.
So far, no problems. The only thing that seems affected is the Message Board and the date. The repairer probably took the internal battery out in the process. Flash memory is unaffected. I have yet to try its online capability, but it should be alright too.
Now... does anyone have any bad luck with your systems?
