In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in medieval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA. Fan favorites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will speed around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in Aiai’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium.
But winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position.
Battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.
Can Amigo scramble Eggman? Will AiAi say bye-bye to Tails? Are you gonna be faster than Sonic? The race will start in 2010…
I guess it's to be expected after the Mario Tennis clone.
Moar Jet Grind Radio characters, anyone? I swear, I'd pick up Sonic and Sega Superstars Hotdog Eating Contest if it meant another game with my beloved GGs in 'em. (This time, though, I'll give the game a couple months rather than buy it right away only for it to drop $20 in price a few weeks after...)
Sonic and Sega All Stars? Why is Sonic's name separate? Is he too good for them?
I think it's something to do with the overwhelming representation of Sonic characters in Sega Superstar Tennis. Sonic had five playable characters, two stages, and an obscene amount of music; the other franchises had, at most, two characters, one court, and three songs. The oversaturation of Sonic content probably led to the name change here.
Stuttering Craig (a.k.a. the guy who looks similar to the driver in the Sonic Drive-In commercials) misunderstood about why Sonic runs slow in Sonic Labyrinth for the Game Gear. According to the game's plot in the instruction booklet, "One day, Sonic woke up from a nap to find that his classic red sneakers have been replaced with Dr. Eggman's new invention, Speed Down Boots. Curses! In order to remove them, Sonic must go through Eggman's great labyrinth and retrieve the Chaos Emeralds."
I'm very happy and surprised to see the inclusion of Ryo Hazuki! Usually Sega shies away from acknowledging Shenmue. It's as if Ryo was a spy that got killed in action, and his agency was disavowing all knowledge of him. But this is good news!
Here's what's going to happen since I'm in Super Pessimism Mode:
Sonic will get about ten characters: the four that matter (Sonic, Robotnik, Tails, Knuckles) and six that should drop off the face of the earth (Amy and Shadow at least, and probably Headfungus the Hedgehog). He'll also have about five stages and fifteen songs. And of course the character count may even have a more unbalanced ratio as we have no word on whether Knuckles is playable or not - if they dumped him in Tennis in favor of Shadow, what's stopping them from doing it again?EDit: nevermind, I just saw Knux in one of the trailers.
Meanwhile, every other franchise will probably only have one character, one stage, and maybe three songs - just like Tennis, only Sonic is jizzing over even more of the game. And just to spite me, if there's any Jet Set Radio-related stuff in the game at all, it'll be based solely on Jet Set Radio Future. Those fucking fuckers. XD
Nester the Lark: Also, I know YL isn't into speedruns, but he might be interested to know that RPG Limit Break is having a Gust marathon all weekend, including several Atelier games.

nocturnal YL: Ah… Bad timing. I didn't read this until now, when it's almost over.

Nester the Lark: Well, if you're still interested, they'll be uploading the replays to their YouTube channel later this week.

Shrikeswind: I like that Mayles put her back in her kneepads. What's the last game they were in? One of the Kongas? It was a good look for her, albeit very 90's.

Shrikeswind: The jokes call to me, their siren song a temptation I can hardly bear, yet I must stay my tongue. Confound my dirty sense of humor.

Nester the Lark: The replies I see to anything Nintendo posts on Twitter are probably an indication as to why they abandoned Miiverse and decided that social media should be someone else's responsibility.

nocturnal YL: As mentioned in Twitter, I'm currently playing Atelier Meruru DX. I'm thinking about writing reviews for the Arland series afterwards, as well as making a second Nintendo Switch review video after I finish either this or my next game.

Nester the Lark: ^ I would be interested in seeing your reviews of the Arland games.

Nester the Lark: So, there's been Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors. But guys, how about this: Punch-out Warriors! It's like Punch-out, but you fight all of your opponents at once!

Shrikeswind: Sounds punchy, but unless it's a real knock-out I don't think it'd be a hit.
