From Forkball on Neogaf: Here's something trippy I just found out: Remember Phantom Ganon from Wind Waker? .png) In Hylian, his sword says Zubora Gabora. Zubora and Gabora are the names of the blacksmiths in Majora's Mask on Snowpeak. They are the ones that forge the Gilded Sword.   Seriously- that is fucking awesome.
Wait! Really? Can we have some kind of Hylian translation chart to prove that? If true, it's very nerdy... and very cool ;D
Wait...so the Majora's Mask sword guys made Phantom Ganon's sword? Well, holy shit.
Also worth pointing out... this should technically be in the cameos board, as it's not Off-Topic OR General Chat. It's a nifty Nintendo easter egg of sorts. |

Wait, you guys just discovered this? I thought it was common knowledge! It's in my Wind Waker Player's Guide, and was all over every Zelda forum I went to, back when I was part of that mess.

Well then for reference. There are currently three different types of Hylian. Old Hylian syllabary (From Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask. Possibly the Eternal star sign from SM64)   Old Hylian has no spaces nor punctuation and often repeats in mirror image when written. Modern Hylian syllabary (Wind Waker)   Introduces Punctuation and Numerals. Certain characters are shrunk as if writing in katakana. Hylian alphabet (Twilight Princess)  Unlike other Versions of Hylian the Hylian Alphabet is used to write Engrish English rather than Japanese. Also worth noting that Old Hylian is used inaccurately in Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl. |
