I noticed the Zelda microgame on DS is Phantom Hourglass-themed, not only because of the graphics, but also because the BGM is this song.

This may not be considered a cameo (plus Mother is a 2nd-party series which would be unusual) but I found it curious. The sample sound for one of the sound effects, known as "Robot", sounds too much like a refrain in " Kraken of the Sea" from EarthBound / Mother 2. Maybe a stock sound of some sort?

I'm loving this game, and I also downloaded the WarioWare DIY Showcase as well, so I'm hoping to get some screenshots of these. Thanks to Showcase, I will also be able to get screenshots of Big Name Games and other official DLC... although the UK only has one so far.

I've noticed that too. But I assume it's just a another "sound instrument" that must've been used in other games too. (-lwl-) Since I sometimes when I played Kirby's Avalance I recognised some sounds from Puyo Puyo-music being used in practice background music, for example.

Good catch, supersonic56. The sound from Golf is the most important sound in the game: the hole sound!
As for the fists, play them in this order and tell me if it sounds familiar to you guys: BLUE, BLUE, RED, rest, RED, rest, RED, rest, BLUE, rest, rest, rest, rest, YELLOW.

That'd be the beginning of the Stage BGM for Wrecking Crew, wouldn't it? Sound effects list! Remember, most of these are just going to be generic 8-bit sound effects that the game designers are representing as being from various games. - Broken Heart Super Mario Bros. (Hit by enemy)
- Fireball Super Mario Bros. (Fireball)
- Flower Donkey Kong 3 (Plant end-of-stage score tally)
- Golf Flag Golf (Hit ball) - not the hole sound... I associate this sound most with trying to get out of a bunker.
- Rocketship Pinball (Plunger) - any idea why this is represented by a rocketship?
- Gun Sounds more like a balloon popping in Balloon Fight, but is represented by a picture of a gun (possibly the Japanese Famicom Light Gun).
- Boxing Glove Red A drum effect represented by Punch-Out punch sound effects. The next two are different drum effects.
- Boxing Glove Red
- Boxing Glove Red
- Spark Large A cymbal effect represented by the lightning sparks in Balloon Fight. The next two are just shorter cymbal sounds.
- Spark Medium
- Spark Small
- Cheep Cheep Just a drum effect
- Bullet Bill Another drum effect

At the moment I'm charging through the Super Mario Bros. games, hopefully in time for Galaxy 2. It's still the most-read section of the site, and it would certainly be a good idea. After that I will be looking to do some more smaller updates before tackling the next big one.
Also, I've only just managed to get back my copy of WW:Smooth Moves for taking screens from. That'll be an upcoming update too.
Where are you getting these downloadable games from?

Nintendo. most of them are contest winners PS i am from the us too! pss a lot of them are missing because the most of the cameos are just 8-bit Mario sprites.

After seeing your screenshots, I thought it's funny that there's a microgame with Cape Mario gliding in the same game that has this (albeit in different game modes).
