'K, so the Wii Homebrew channel is now easier than ever to get installed. With it lies every NES, SNES, GBA, GB/C, Genesis, etc. games at your disposal. I installed the channel and all my roms (with saves) in under an hour. So my question is this...how do you guys feel about this whole hacking scene? Is it right, or is it just incredibly awesome? (By the way, I just got done playing Wario Land 4 on my TV. Incredible.)

If you ask me? It's awesome.
It's always a good thing to be able to hack stuff, do the undoable, change game contents.... juat a lot of things that could have done if Ninty is not disallowing it.
I actually want a full list of things that this channel can do. Emulation, hacking, letting you play as Strikers Mario or Galacta Knight (aka Brawl texture hack)... but what else? Copying protected save files? Deleting gameplay record (so that no one knows I'm using that awesome Homebrew Channel)? GAMECUBE emulation (so that I can play games I can't buy)?
....Nay. I have one concern there, and that's once I get these stuff for free, I won't pay for them anymore. I decided not to cheat Ninty from DS/Wii onwards. I can barely resist GC/Wii emulation now.
The only thing I want to do now is to copy otherwise-protected save files. Some big company there ignores the importance of user-friendliness, file management and blah blah blah.

Indeed, you can swap Brawl save files and even play DVD's with your Wii once you hack it. It's weird, the Wii comes with DVD functionality, but Nintendo never bothered to utilize it...

I had it but my brother deleted it so now I can't use my new USB Gecko. I'll probably install it with Bannerbomb.
PS: why does everyone call Nintendo Ninty now?

PS: why does everyone call Nintendo Ninty now? 1. Everybody doesn't. 2. People have used "Ninty" as shorthand for "Nintendo" since I was a kid, which was a loooong time ago.

So I just found out something else Homebrew can do...
You can use a New Wii Play Control to play Gameboy Advance games! For instance, in any of the Zelda games on GBA, you swing the Wiimote to swing your sword, etc. Also, WarioWare Twisted can be played by rotating the Wiimote, and Boktai senses the time and date from your Wii sytem memory!
It's all so awesome.

In other words, map Wii Remote movement to certain inputs of the GBA emulator.
I'm feeling somewhat stupid now. For actually buying games. It's not about homebrew; it's GC/Wii emulation in my case.
Now what about I don't buy the next system and wait some 2 or 3 years for emulation T_T
I want to see if there's any way to modify save files. I may want to actually use homebrew in case my save files get killed, but I want to edit the save files rather than just the simple backup-and-replace way. Darnit, player records. And you too, death count.

Since the VC lineup is shit lately and my PC's harddrive got fried, I'm gonna give this a go.
Any specific emulator I need to use? Or any specific folder on my SD card I need to install it to? Cause I can't get it to work durrrr

Hay guise!
Wii emulation can now run a loooot of N64 games. Pretty much everything on the Virtual Console and more.

Yo guys, hacked my PSP, got tons of Gameboy, Gamboy Advance, SNES, Genesis, blah blah blah games.
If anyone is planning on getting a PSP, definitely get a 2000. For anyone who's complaining about such and so not appearing on Virtual Console or PSN.

I considered homebrew for my Wii. Unfortunately the risk-benefit analysis came in. The thought of being banned from online activity or bricking scared me, and was it worth it to have ROMs and such that I could play on a computer?
(Answer: For the time being, no)

As far as I know, Molecule, you would only be banned from online activity if you were to hack an online multiplayer game for your own advantage, or if you were to steal WiiWare games.
Now, Teev, a question for you. I put the Homebrew Channel on my Wii, and while I really like what it can do, i've refrained from using it much due to a drop in sound quality that occurs when booting it up, and continues until I turn the Wii off. You know of any way to fix that?

I still haven't decided about homebrew yet. In regards to emulation, I really have no computer I feel comfortable running emulation on. My laptop is not great for it...although I run a few NES games on it, the visuals are far from stellar, the iMac G3 is OK for running early games but it's SNES at best (and even SNES emulation is not perfect), the iMac G5 is a big no (horrible unfixable graphics problems), and my dad won't let me install anything fun on his computer. Whereas on the Wii, I can actually play video games on the TV which is a delicious thought to me.
