Don't praise me, praise the guy on Youtube that uploaded the video. C:

So did I just spread this across the internet? Wow, I actually something good for once. Yay me. (: I'm just surprised by how it flew. The NeoGAF "obscure game facts" thread had been going for a while, and your post over here seemed neat enough to share. I had no idea it was going to travel off NeoGAF. The power of NeoGAF scares me.

Can you throw a bone for those of us who:
A) Can't watch YouTube at work; and B) Don't have internet at home because we have just moved house.
This is the pickle I am in, and I want to know what the video shows... Hence why I request (regularly) that you describe the contents of videos in the cameo board.

When the Gamecube's startup tune is sped up several times, it resembles the startup tune from the Famicom Disc System. That's the gist of it.

Reposting one of the YouTube videos GameDev just posted for comparison:
But now here, HERE is a Gamecube video that perfectly demonstrates the concept you're talking about. Let there be no confusion:
Bam!

Just saw this mentioned over at 1UPs Chiptuned, who also linked back here! ;D And that second video is perfect Mr. Bond! Despite it catching on quickly across the net like some mad thing, I wanted a second source to confirm it. I could just about make it out by listening to the regular speed Gamecube menu, but this confirms it for me! And you'll be glad to know, everybody, that I have found a home for cameos of this kind Too bad I can't update the site until I get FTP access and an internet connection sorted out. Still... It's nice to know that the internet does still read us for weird crap like this (For the record, I also sped up the Wii menu music for funsies, but nothing familiar yet)

It said he made the startup tune, not the GC menu theme. Then again, you never know...
