I don't think if any one made a subject about SNK Fighting, but I am basically making an appreciation thread after the release of the King of Fighters XII last season.
My favorite characters are K' from King of Fighters: NESTS saga and Setsuna from Last Blade 2

If SNK is known for anything, it's fighting games.
I like KOF. My personal favorite is 97, but I must admit I've never played anything after 99.
I kinda wish SNK would go back to making standalone Fatal Fury games. Mark of the Wolves came out about 10 years ago. It's time to revisit the series.
I was never able to get into Samurai Shodown for some reason. I think it was the controls. The Last Blade is cool, tho.

I never really liked 2D fighters as a whole, so I never really played any SNK games. The only 2D fighters I really enjoyed were Marvel vs. Capcom 1 & 2 (because I'm such a Marvel geek) and Street Fighter IV (which isn't necessarily 2D).

I like 2D fighting games, despite the fact I'm fucking terrible at 'em. Never bought any KoF before though. Mostly because my brother always bought the Playstation stuff while I always got Nintendo junk.
.... and I didn't know KoFXII was already released over here. For 2 months. I know what I'm gonna do this week!

The Orochi sage of KOF was very interesting. I read rumors that Garou: Mark of Wolves is getting a sequel somtimes next year. Another game that desrved to be in home format is Buriki One

Mark of the Wolves 2 has been rumored for years. SNK has mentioned it themselves as recently as last year, but they only seem to be interested in KOF, Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown these days.
I miss the days when SNK was a little more diverse.

I only played KOF 1999 and 2003.
@ Corey Woods
Yes, I see your clarification. But at least KOF XII were handcrafted rather than 2.5D animation. What I don' like the most is waiting for new opponents to come. KOF 2003 and XI was more faster on the upper hand.

I admire the fact that SNK wanted to do a hi-res 2D game. The problem is that SNK likes to pretend that they're a larger, more financially powerful developer than they actually are (this is one of the reasons they went bankrupt 10 years ago), so their ambition tends to outweigh their resources.
I hate to say it, but if they were to make a new 2D Fatal Fury, I would hope that they scale back the production vales a little in the interest of practical game development and a fully fleshed-out final package.

SNK came before Capcom. When Capcom created their first game, Vulgus, SNK published it in North America. Before SNK's fighting games in the Neo Geo era, there was Street Smart, released in 1989, two years before Capcom's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. After Capcom released the first Street Fighter in 1987, some of the same designers of that game later designed the first Fatal Fury in 1991. Like the first Street Fighter, Fatal Fury has a very low number of playable characters. Also, Terry, Andy and Joe share one knock-out cry, while the other characters share another knock-out cry. When Ryu's red shoes were removed while his "raising fist" winning taunt was rotated in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior and its updates and successors, SNK did a similar thing to Terry in Fatal Fury 2 and its successors. They removed his sleeves from his red jacket and changed his shoes, while rotating his "Okay!" winning taunt. When Capcom and several people outside of Japan first heard about Art of Fighting, they thought it was a complete rip-off of Street Fighter II, but it's not. Why? It was like the first modern 2D fighter to feature energy bars that allow players to shoot projectiles or do other moves that require energy. After SNK noticed that Street Fighter II allowed players to do "spamming" attacks, they added the energy bar to Art of Fighting to prevent players from doing the same thing. When their energy bars are down, they cannot throw projectiles nor any other energy-costing move; however, they can refill their energy bars either by continuing beating up their opponents with basic attacks or using the "charging" move to refill faster, while risking themselves in being hit by their opponents. When SNK added Ryo Sakazaki to Fatal Fury Special as the secret final boss... Capcom created a similar idea to counter-attack SNK with, which is adding Akuma/Gouki into X-Men: Children of the Atom. While Ryo in Fatal Fury Special caused SNK to add characters from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldier and Ikari Warriors to The King of Fighters '94, along with some original characters, Akuma in X-Men: Children of the Atom caused Capcom to create X-Men VS. Street Fighter. Ever wonder why Makoto Mizoguchi was added to KOF: Maximum Impact Regulation A? SNK didn't buy Data East's Fighter's History franchise, they added Mizoguchi to promote the cell phone exclusive cross-over, Garou Densetsu VS. Fighter's History Dynamite.

That's when Capcom replied to Ryuko No Ken with this dropout...

Here are the alleged screenshots of Mark of the Wolves 2 that popped up several years ago. I was looking for these before, but I couldn't find them. IIRC, when these shots first appeared, they were considered to be a hoax. However, in more recent times, they're popularly believed to be authentic. No one can say for sure, I suppose.

I forgot to mention that SNK made a game called Rage of The Dragons based on Double Dragon as of 2002

I forgot to mention that SNK made a game called Rage of The Dragons based on Double Dragon as of 2002 Actually, Noise Factory developed it, which they also developed Power Instinct Matrimelee for Atlus. The game also stars some Rage of the Dragons characters as special visitors. Rage of the Dragons is more of a homage than "based on Double Dragon". The characters aren't exactly the same.
