Here is a survey studying homosexuality in video games. I suggest you guys take it. It's a pretty interesting study and so far the results list most gamers as heterosexuals, which is unsurprising to most. I love the ladies, but to me, any form of romance in vidya gaimez just doesn't seem right. What are your views? (If you don't feel like saying, then that's okay) Results for the curious.

This is the worst survey ever. I decided to fill it out (because why the F not), but when you get to the page where you have to list, in order of preference, what you look for in a game, you get a list of options such as "gameplay", "story", "good graphics", and then shoehorned into the middle of it is "gay/lesbian content".
While it was right at the bottom of my list, that's because everything else listed is fundamental to games.
It would have been quite a different story if they'd included stuff such as "violent content", "cute content" or "sexual content (straight)" and other things that wouldn't affect the gameplay if it wasn't there. Then I would have had to really think about it.
What are they considering to be "gay content"? A boy kissing a boy? A boy falling in love with a boy? A boy having sex with a boy? A gay character who does none of the above in the actual game, but we are led to believe he probably does in his spare time? A sexless character who is nonetheless flamboyant enough for us to insinuate he is gay?
It is not important to me for a character to affirm their sexuality by actually performing acts of a sexual/romantic nature on-screen. Such a thing would not fly with me regardless of whether the content was gay OR straight. If I want to see other people making out and sleeping with each other, I watch porn, where the gay/lesbian content really can make a difference.

I totally agree. It all seems forced enough that someone who is gay will automatically put "Gay/Lesbian Content" at the top of their list, causing unpredictable and unfair results. This survey was brought on by the uproar caused by people saying "That's so gay" in Halo, which is a stupid reason to be offended anyway, considering "gay" used to mean happy, but now means "homosexual".
I don't like getting political in forums, but people are crazy sometimes.

I dispute! "Gay" has changed meaning so many times that it's worthless trying to associate it with anything.
Its original meaning was "happy", but in the 1300s it became "brilliant/showy". It gained some immoral connotations in the 1600s, and by the 1800s had almost entirely become associated with "debauchery", used to describe tramps who became male prostitutes. By the 1930s the word started being associated with homosexuality, and was largely adopted by the 1950s (faster than homosexuals themselves were!)
So next time someone says "Homosexuals have stolen a beautiful word from our language", make sure to point out "You pay for sex with tramps?!?"
Fact is, "gay" has been a negative word for longer than homosexuals have been using it. And it's such an EASY word to say! I say stuff is "gay" all the time. I don't usually insinuate that the target of my scorn is homosexual, and I definitely never mean that it's "happy".
I usually mean that it's retarded. ;D

Well, for some reason, TV shows still like to write in "gay" and "queer" as meaning happy. Especially in Spongebob, but that may also be because their new writers suck.
Also, I'm pretty and witty and GAY!

It's like how writers think its clever to still use the word ass to refer to a donkey.
