(AKA, the biggest waste of Shrikeswind's time ever.)
Hi! So, you may be wondering what this is. I'LL TELL YOU WHAT. Recently, I've decided to run some tests in Brawl on all 39 characters in Brawl. I performed them last night, and now I present my findings.
The testing ran as such: I built a stage designed for these tests with 16 blocks along the bottom of the stage leaving gaps only on the far left and right. Over the first and sixteenth blocks, I put a pass-through platform, and repeated putting these platforms above each other until they reached the top. Finally, I built two walls in the gaps that ran alongside these platforms. This was the stage, if you wish to build it. (For those who care, the song and design were "Multi-Man Melee" and "Nature Mountain," but neither really matter.)
I then went to Training Mode and selected two characters (for purposes of example, Mario was Player 1 and Luigi the Computer.) I set Luigi to Control and moved him onto one of the pass-through platforms and set Mario as far to the side as I could so that he was touching the wall. I then recorded Mario dashing all the way to the other side (16 tiles,) stopping my timer when he hit the wall. I did this three times, then averaged the times. I then had Mario jump and recorded which platform he landed on, then had him duck through the platform and do it again, this time double-jumping (no Up-Bs were used.) On landing after the second jump I recorded where they landed using both. I then did the same for Luigi. In the case of the flying characters, I measured all mid-air jumps to check to see if they reached the same height each time (which they did with no exceptions,) then used only one mid-air jump for the double-jump test (had there been any exceptions, they would have been recorded as well.)
For larger characters such as Bowser, another test was performed. They ran half the distance and their times doubled (with a smaller character running beforehand to ensure the test was accurate, it was,) and their doubled times being averaged as well.
Scoring for the Dash Test works as follows: I timed the characters three times to the hundredth of a second. I then averaged these times, again rounding to the hundredth of a second. On averaging, I rounded them to the nearest tenth of a second and multiplied them by 10 (therefore, an average time of 3.52 seconds became a score of 35.) Higher scores indicate a slower dash. I will order the characters by how they scored, from highest score to lowest.
*The Ice Climbers were tested with only Popo to keep after-images from obscuring the results. Olimar was tested without his Pikmin for the same reason.
I will soon add in the Jump Test results, which are being re-evalutated due to the fact that I tested it poorly.
