I'm attempting to preserve the doodle game, which is made entirely with DHTML (save for the music). It will be on for one more day according to the Official Google Blog.
Anyway, happy birthday, Pac-Man!

Good, Johans. And happy birthday to the Pac-Man series. According to the interview found in Nintendo Power's Star Fox 64 Player's Guide, Shigeru Miyamoto's favorite game is Pac-Man, which is one reason why it caused him to create Devil World (and probably its cousin, Squish). Pac-Man might have caused Miyamoto to suggest Sakurai to color Kirby "yellow". In fact, Kirby is another cute, round, and easy-to-draw character that eats things. For Starfy, which is often compared to Kirby, is also cute and yellow like Pac-Man (though cartoon versions of stars are usually yellow). According to Iwatani, yellow is a "neutral color" which neither represents friend or foe. Another thing Pac-Man and Starfy have in common are that they had merchandise released during the first games of their franchises.

My first Pac-Man game was the one on Atari 2600. That game is regarded as one of the worst games ever, but that's probably only from the perspective of the porting of games from a platform to another. It was difficult, I agree on that. Also pause the video at any time, and you'll only see one ghost per frame, just like reviewers say. About the doodle game, it's no longer live. Although many people may have done it too, I gathered the required files and made the game work (try it out here). After tweaking the paths, it only works with sound on Chrome and Firefox, and it doesn't work with sound on IE for some JavaScript error I haven't bothered to fix (I might later). Regarding Pac-Man Pizza Parlor, turns out it was a PC game.

It worked fine on my IE. XD Thanks, too - I had quite a bit of fun with that.

Hehe, no need to worry now anyway. This is a recent post on the Official Google Blog. We've been overwhelmed — but not surprised :) — by the success of our 30th anniversary PAC-MAN doodle. Due to popular demand, we’re making the game permanently available at www.google.com/pacman.
Thanks to NAMCO for helping to make this wonderful collaboration happen. Enjoy!

I thought I'd mention Pac-Man Battle Royale. As far as I know, it's only been shown at Amusement Expo 2010. With the state of arcades the way they are, I doubt many of will play it. It seems like a good candidate for a downloadable title, though.
