Just saw this on NeoGaf, images taken from desks of Nintendo (Japan) employees for a recruitment book, has quite a few interesting images. Awesome pencil boxart for NSMB Wii On a boatrain! (and a hover bike, also interesting looking Toon Link with beady eyes). And now for the glory that is the Tingle Train! Edit by JN: the NSMBW art picture has an unstable URL

Oh... my... gosh *saveimage-click-saveimage-click-saveimage-click*...
This is extremely awesome. Kudos to the people who had the heart to share the images, I hope for them that they won't be blamed by Nintendo. I wished Nintendo would bring out an art book full of art like that.
Or if there was at least a website that collects all the concept art that has already been published. Or is there one that is specialized on such content?

Let's ride the Tingle train Those vehicles of Link look like a timid attempt to introduce the train while preserving the boat. I notice there are other interesting pictures in that thread, like one showing a bow accessory for Wii Sports Resort, another with sketches for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii bosses (Tingle appears in some sort of comic strip in that one).

Aw man, they should have kept the boat-train. That thing'd never float, but it'd be funny to watch it do so.

Good. Now it does.
Impressive....Impressive......It's so great to see a whole bunch of concept images before the final versions came along. Grandy's right, Nintendo really should released a whole art book of these things.
Really digging the B&W sketchy New SMB Wii boxart.

Yeah, that unused SMBWii boxart's totally rad. The beta torchic and latios-like evolution from the same thread are neat too.

gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=120711I understand this has been brought up before, but this seems to be the right topic to place it. Chicken Suits...To think how those would have turned out...

Well, the easiest use I can think of is falling down slowly just like other suits Mario has used in the past. We've seen that trait in other chickens of Miyamoto games, namely the Cuccos. And the most recent example I can remember is the " Bird's-Eye Bull's-Eye" game in Wii Fit Plus ;D Their wings aren't that large though.

I would have assumed it was a "drifting" suit, like the Rabbit Ears or Raccoon Tail. The Propeller Hat has some of those properties too, as an after-effect of being a "super jump". I guess Chicken Suit and Propeller Hat couldn't live side-by-side... Maybe we'll see it in the next NSMB tho

I think it is the Chicken Suit would have been to the Fire Flower, as the Penguin Suit was to the Ice Flower.
You see Japan has a myth about a fire rooster. So I think it would have been an enhanced Fire Flower.

Fire Flower + Hovering/Flight then, just like how Penguin Suit was Ice Flower + Blue Shell + Frog Suit.
