^ That sounds like a decent setup.
One thing that was off-putting was that the Propeller Suit was whored out to no end, while the Penguin Suit was used as sparingly as ever. Same case for the Bee Suit and Boo Mario respectively in Galaxy 1.

Well of course the Propellor Suit was whored out. It was the designated flight power-up. Did you complain about using the Super Leaf more than the Hammer Suit in SMB3? Or using the Cape more than any other power-up in SMW?

So it appears to be a recurring trend with these games then, where the game's obligatory flight power-up gets the most attention and/or merit? Well, provided most levels are designed to make the best of any other power-up if necessary, it all works out just fine in the long run. So I suppose the flight-based ones surely could have all their fun in other levels.

Or using the Cape more than any other power-up in SMW? I know many people enjoyed the Hammer Suit better But speaking of flying items alone, I understand they can get overused because they allow you to skip things easily. I used to own a non-legit copy of SMB3 that had an unlimited power-up cheat hardcoded. That also meant unlimited P-Wings from the Grass Land up to the Dark Land! ^_^' I used to be ashamed of this until last year, when I finally beat the game fairly.

The Hammer Bros. suit was brilliant though. It let you kill everything and stop fireballs by crouching. But the fact it was so rare meant that its place in legend was only second to the Kuribo Shoe... which everyone loved because it was only available for one stage.
The thing with NSMBWii is that rather than giving you general power-ups and rare power-ups, each level gave you the power-up you should use to beat that level, and if you used a different power-up from another level then it felt like cheating...
The Propeller Cap let you avoid most of the trickiest situations in the game, from enemies to platforming challenges. There were very few situations where the other power-ups were necessary... but I made a point to always get the power-up in that level and use it.
