Any of ya played of these Hudson's platformers? The first title has appeared on Virtual Console, ya know. It's about Bonk, the cute, funny caveboy who uses three weapon's: his cranium of titanium, power of meats and WJS/ Widget Factor(Weird Japanese Stuff Ala Tv Tropes) to save Princess Zola from King Drool, setted on stone age. He's widely known as the original mascot of the PC Engine / Turbo Grafx16-console and is one of the "platforming kings" with Mario and Sonic Bonk: Brink of Extinction is a newest installment coming out this year for Wiiware, Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Bonk CompendiumA site that covers everything related to Bonk. So, any of ya played these games? (The commercial for the first game made little fun of SMB3, by the way. (-lvl-) )

I've only played the first two games on the Virtual Console. They were pretty fun, classic platform games. Especially Bonk's Revenge. It's far better than the first one.
I'm surprised Super Bonk 1 and 2 haven't appeared on the VC yet. Maybe they'll be released in promotion of Brink of Extinction.
And the original commercial is awesome.
I think Fry likes these games, also.

I've played Super Bonk and Super Bonk 2 so far- I still like Super Bonk 2, as it's more balanced on WJH and has the little feel of SMB3: lots of wacky powerups, Koopaling-like bosses and varying stages. (-lwl-)
Commercial is just win. And what they mean by the one weapon, it's his WTF Factor: Who can't say that at least once when playing Bonk-games?

"You're a cave-dude." "Rescue your excellent-looking princess." God, how dorky. It's entertaining, of course, but God, how dorky.

Not to mention that American PC Genjin is hardcore Bonk. He also kissed a lizard before Sonic was vice versa in Sonic 2006. (-lwl-)

I've downloaded all the Bonk games on Virtual Console, including Air Zonk. I enjoy them, but I haven't really bothered beating any of them yet. I don't know... They are almost too wacky

Made this video where I picked the best of Bonk:
Warning: Contains Very Obvious Fan-advertizing.

Heh. That was pretty cool! I like the music that went with it. It lasted longer than 5 seconds, tho.

My, I'm so glad to see someone actually mentioning that series. I recall playing one game in the SNES series. That has been interesting, to say the least.

When is that Bonk RPG coming out? Been waiting a looong time Also, Super Bonk is easily one of the best platformers I've played. Super Bonk 2 is also really really fun

Bonk's Adventure was just mentioned in 1up's Retro Flashback: March and April 1990 article. It's interesting that, up until a few years back, Hudson Soft (in Japan) had no idea that Bonk was being used as the TG16 mascot in North America. Someone from Hudson Entertainment (in the US) put together a presentation about it in hopes that they would consider bringing the character back. That's probably how Brink of Extinction came to be. They want to test the waters to see if the character is still popular over here.

BUMP. Or maybe I should say BONK! I was wondering whatever happened to Brink of Extinction. AFAIK, it hasn't been canceled. It was at PAX10 in September, and I think it's been displayed since then, but it doesn't seem to be getting any closer to release. It was announced way back in September(?) 2009, and then it was supposed to be out by the end of 2010, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. It seems like an excessive amount of time for a downloadable game to be in development. I suppose that could be either good or bad. Anyway, with the retro revivals of Mario, Sonic and Donkey Kong Country, Bonk just kinda completes the picture, so I've had my eye on the game. Here's an official trailer from last July that I don't recall being circulated. It actually shows a lot more of the game than most previews have, including what appears to be a boss fight with King Drool. I hope that online co-op applies to the Wii version. Also, here is the official website.
