Alright, I was going to name this thread 'What videogame has made you cryyy?', but thinking back I don't remember actually getting teary eyed playing a videogame ever. The closest I got was feeling really shitty about an event that affected me the rest of the day.
So yeah, post (sad) moments that really affected you in this thread. Ain't limited to Nintendo

Cave Story - Yup, beat the Wii version yesterday. I guess it's because I thought the game would be pretty lighthearted, so killing off that little-girl-bunny-turned-monster made me feel pretty bad. Even worse is the female robot giving you her oxygen machine as you are drowning. After awhile you realize you've got no choice but to leave her for dead.. unless you went out of your way to do things different earlier! Too bad you already saved the game! That actually got me pretty pissed.

Mother 3 - Twin brother turned chimera dies in your arms, followed by the end of the world. This was before the translation patch so I didn't know about the whole moving THE END around thing where it turns out everybody is a-okay, making the world's destruction a lot less dramatic. The Pig army trying to escape by flight only to be hit by a big piece of debris is still kinda saddening though.

Zelda: Majora's Mask - Deku butler and his son

Terranigma - Turns out you, your town and everyone you knew were created by the DevilDark Gaia as part of his plan to have you rebuild Earth the way he wants! I guess in the end the plan didn't work out because you're facing him as the final boss. By kicking his ass you save the world, but also causes you, your town and everyone you know to cease to exist. GodLight Gaia grants you one day to hang around town and talk to everyone for one last time. When entering your bed, the game's credits roll as your main character has one last dream...

The word "spoiler" makes me think of Wikipedia no longer allowing spoiler warning tags. It also makes me think of some people on YouTube hating my "spoiler warning" requests, while downvoting and fussing at me. This made me decide to add spoilers to the Starfy series article on Wikipedia.

Some of the last parts of Densetsu no Starfy 2 and especially 3 made me shed some tears. I almost cried at the final boss of Starfy Taiketsu! Dire Kaizokudan (a.k.a. The Legendary Starfy, Starfy TDK, Starfy 5), because he did the same thing in Starfy 2. The ending theme of Super Mario Bros. 3 makes my feelings travel back to when I first saw someone beat it and when I first played it along with StarTropics. The bad ending of Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge makes me think it's a funeral song for the game and its predecessor, Battle Clash. In other words, a farewell theme to the Super Scope franchise by Intelligent Systems. If Nintendo and Capcom crossed over, I would love to see the ST Falcon teaming up with the Warrior Mech Gauss (from Chosoju Mecha MG) in a team battle against either version of Blodia (from Armored Warriors or Cyberbots) and PTX-40A (from Capcom's Lost Planet series).

I nearly cried at the end of Super Paper Mario. I couldn't believe it was over! It was the same elation I felt at the end of Star Fox Adventures! A kind of bitter, hateful elation.

But seriously folks... ;D

I don't really get that emotionally invested in games, but there were moments in Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess that actually stirred some emotion. In fact... pretty much every moment in Majora's Mask was tinged with sadness. It was brilliant!

Chibi-Robo actually becomes very sad. This is a broken household, but you only uncover it slowly. It's actually a lot more emotionally crippling to be handled in such a light-handed, colourful way. Everything you thought this game was when you bought it will be wrong, and it sounds like the same path was taken with Captain Rainbow.

But can games make you cry? Not often, not easily, and it doesn't always translate into a successful game... which will put off developers investing in more of them.

Games have never made me cry, but as everyone else said, Majora's Mask was very sad. Especially with the Deku Butler and the Indigo-Go's.

Another sad instance in a game would maybe be when Rinoa was lost in space with no oxygen in Final Fantasy VIII. Everything just seemed hopeless and there was no music, just her gasping for air. Then Squall rescued her and blah blah, cue romance scene.

Shit, pretty much everything near, during, and after the climax in Skies of Arcadia, especially if it's tied into Drachma's plot lines. And the fact that he died shortly after game ended...;_____;

Sad moments? I'd say Fire Emblem 8, regarding Lyon. It actually made me a more emotional-based person since 4 years ago.

Other than that, I usually don't make my own feeling move too much with games. They're works of fiction, and there's no real reason to get actually sad about anything in them.

I'm not a good story audience. When I watch a movie, comments like "that's a nice After Effects makeup" and "whoa, Maya can do THIS!?" come to my mind more often than things about the story do.
