I'm not really interested in this series, but I noticed that there are several video games inspired by it. There was also a manga and anime series inspired by it titled Hokuto no Ken/ Fist of the North Star, which some video games might of also been inspired by that more than the Mad Max series.
Mach Rider and the F-ZERO series
Mach Rider's plot is similar, while the Samurai Goroh part in the SNES F-ZERO comic also reminds me of the Mad Max series. While Mach Rider was the predecessor of the F-ZERO series, the Mach Rider and Captain Falcon resemble Max Rockatansky, the protagonist of the Mad Max series. In fact, the Pursuit Special (a.k.a. The Interceptor), the car Max drives, is actually a 1973 Ford XB Falcon, which is probably one of the things Shigeru Miyamoto named Captain Falcon after.
Captain Falcon was also inspired by numerous tokusatsu heroes, especially the Kamen Rider series. His Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick moves are similar to the Kamen Punch and Kamen Kick. Capcom's former company mascot Captain Commando was also inspired by numerous tokusatsu heroes and has similar moves like Captain Fire, Captain Kick and Captain Corridor. Some of the earliest Kamen Riders drive motorcycles, and so does Mach Rider.
Road Blaster / Road Avenger and the Double Dragon series
The plot has some villains similar to the ones seen in the Mad Max and Hokuto no Ken series. The red car called the LX-5, was probably modeled after the Pursuit Special, due to both having a motor popping up above their hoods.
The game was directed by Kunio-kun and Double Dragon creator Yoshihisa Kishimoto, while it was animated by Toei Amination, the same studio that animated the Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star series.
Like Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star, the plot of the Double Dragon series was not only inspired by the Mad Max series, but also the Bruce Lee movies. In the beginning of the first Double Dragon arcade (and several of its ports, including Double Dragon Advance), the LX-5 can be seen in the garage.
