I don't believe Ghost Pokemon are dead. They are not ghosts they are Ghost Type. Grass type Pokemon are not really "grass" now are they?
Type describes their properties, Gastly has ghost-like properties but is not an actual ghost.
Cubone's mother however was a REAL ghost, hence why you could not capture it.
I sorta theorized the same thing with Boos in the Mario series VS the actual spirits of those who were deceased, as seen in Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario 2. But that's another subject.

Sucker Punch is not a punch in Japanese. And if I may, it should be noted that a sucker punch is not necessarily a punch, but rather any unfair attack delivered. A Goblin Punch, therefore, is a sucker punch, as it is an unfair attack, and as anyone who's ever suffered a Goblin Punch knows, it is not, in fact, a punch, but instead a kick. Goblins are not notorious for their intelligence. Also, I like the "If you pick a Pokemon's bones clean and return them to the place you captured them, they regenerate" thing. It's so Norse.

Speaking of Gastly...
"Its thin body is made of gas. Despite lacking substance, it can envelop an opponent of any size and cause suffocation."

Here's some more Gastly creepiness...
Groups of this Pokémon cluster under the eaves of houses to escape the ravages of wind.
May not seem so bad until you realize that Gastly is FOUR FEET TALL! Imagine looking out your window at night and seeing a decapitated head floating and surrounded by what looks like gaseous flames.
Also, is anyone else a little peeved that the slots were censored out in the international versions of Heartgold and Soulsilver? I mean, yeah...we get Voltorb Picross but it's so plain compared to all the flashing images from the slots. Makes me wonder if anything else is taken out during translation...

Bad: it does look plain and it breaks with the tradition. Good: it doesn't make you spend coins each turn you play it, and it's kind of fun if you like that type of math games. On-topic, all those Pokédex entries about Pokémon species eating others are sometimes shocking. I never had Omastar in Gold, but I just found via HeartGold this: "Apparently, it cracked Shellder's shell with its sharp fangs and sucked out the insides".

You know, this SOUNDS bad when it's another animal doing it, but it's perfectly acceptable when you boil a lobster alive and essentially do the same thing. Some of these Pokemon eating things aren't as bad when you realize humans can be just as horrible. For example, I've read somewhere about a dish in some random country out in Asia where they cut up a fish and prepare it to be eaten, you know, like any other dish, except not only is it raw, it's STILL ALIVE when they put it in front of you. So Pokemon as food and Pokemon eating each other? Not too freaky.
As someone mentioned here, no one's sure where the eggs are coming from. Obviously they're coming from somewhere, but no one's sure where. So Pokemon do, naturally, get intimate, and they're apparently quite shy about sex. But then you think about egg groups and how it's possible for Pokemon with questionable relationships such as Zangoose and Seviper to make an egg, odd size differences such as the classic Hot Skitty On Wailord Action, and even Pokemon that may also view each other as food such as Shellder and Omastar. It brings me to wonder if the breeders would even WANT to see how the sex happens in the first place.

They're probably going to end up making a stork legendary Pokémon said to bring all Eggs to the world. Or something based on the easter bunny? Who knows. But the fact that there are genders in Pokémon make it explicit that there is sex involved in the conception of Pokémon.

They're probably gonna be cute about it and have a the egg bringer appear like a tooth fairy when 2 of the opposite sex just like each other a whoooole lot. It's a kid's game afterall. Not that that'll stop furries from drawing up pokeporn.
The stork's a western myth though. I don't know about any Asian baby bringing myths, but it'll no doubt be something entirely different.

There's a stork in Yoshi's Island though, so clearly the Japanese at least are aware of it.

I sincerely doubt they'd go out of their way to create a Pokemon designed to explain breeding. Sorry, but this looks like that series where they created sex.

Well that sucks, cuz I got really good at the slots in FireRed. They're probably gonna be cute about it and have a the egg bringer appear like a tooth fairy when 2 of the opposite sex just like each other a whoooole lot. It's a kid's game afterall. Not that that'll stop furries from drawing up pokeporn. It's also a game who's sole silver point revolves around animal fighting.

I don't really lament the loss of the slots. Voltorb Flip is really fun, makes you think, and doesn't absolutely dick you over like the slots did. That doesn't mean I don't think the reason they were taken out was stupid. Fucking Australia making a fuss about anything meant for anybody over the age of seventeen. Anyway, back on topic... A lot of the Pokemon-eating-Pokemon entries are only so shocking because of how explicit they are! In reality, animals eat animals, there's no denying that, but you don't quite expect that in a Pokemon game. Not like it's a bad thing, it's awesome that the lore is extending at least that far. That said, I think the "lawl were do teh eggz coem frum " thing is just GameFreaks skirting around the whole mating deal. That is not part of the lore, that's just the company keeping the games as kid-friendly as possible. Kids grow up knowing animals eat other animals, but not that THEY HAS TEH SEXXLAWL until, like, double-digits or whatever. Strictly a business thing, nothing more, nothing less.
